3, 2, 1 Launch Party!

Happy Monday Everybody,

Here's hoping everyone had a great weekend. I had an awesome one.

The NWHRWA annual Lone Star Contest is now open for entries! There's an early bird discount for those who are interested. So come on and check out NWHRWA Lone Star Contest page. There's some really great final judges, so come check it out.

As I mentioned last week, Friday was Christie Craig (C.C. Hunter) launch party for her YA book, Born At Midnight, book one in her new Shadow Falls series.

Even if you couldn't make it to the launch party at Katy Budget Books, I thought I'd provide you, my readers, with a taste of it, so you can get a little taste of what it was like (a lot of fun). I don't have a lot of pictures, but here they are:

Christie (C.C.) answering questions

More of Christie (C.C.) answering a question.
Christie (C.C.) signing copies of Born At Midnight

Christie (C.C.'s) cake--it looks just like the cover of Born At Midnight (isn't it gorgeous?)

Triple "threat"! From left to right:  Bethany Averie (me), Kerrelyn Sparks (author of Love At Stake series and For Love Or Country) and Christie Craig (C.C. Hunter).

Anyway it was fun and hope you all get to attend a book launch party one day :-)

Have A Merry Monday!

Great pictures. It was a fun party and I was impressed with how many of our north Houston members showed up. That's what makes our chapter rock - we support each other. You're a prime example of that, Bethany.
Thanks for sharing photos!

Tonette,

Glad you were able to stop by on here. That was my first launch party. We really did have a good time. It's always fun to hang out with Christie Craig (she's great fun and one awesome person/writer). I've been to one book signing so far and that was one of Kerrelyn Sparks'. She's real sweet and her LOVE AT STAKE series is fun :-)

Get Thee A Nom De Plume!

Good Evening One & All, Shakespeare wrote in Romeo & Juliet, "What's in a name?...A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Disney talked about names in Aladdin in the lyrics, "Better get a nom de plume ." (the song, "One Jump"). So, for a writer, what does a nom de plume (or, pen name) say about the author? It could be a different spelling of the author's name, it could be a name that has a significance. They could keep their first name, but change the last, or change both. A pen name is also the name a writer will write under for his or her books. The name that his or her readers will recognize them. The name on the autographs and the one where people will say, "Oh yes, that's so and so, they wrote..." Some authors write under their own names. Others, for a variety of reasons, choose a pen name. What about you? Are you considering a pen name? What have you looked at when thinking of your nom de plume ? For myself, I&
