Quite Quotable!

Happy Tuesday All, It's so rainy and gloomy today, which is not cool. The rain is good, but the gloom? Not so much. So we're going to have to find ways to brighten things up in spite of the grayness outside. Yesterday, a writer-buddy of mine (and fellow blogger), Marsha,  posted a fun post with quotes . So I thought today I'd pull some of my favorite quotes from various sources and post them here: "Give me this moment. This precious chance."--Dr. Jekyll from the musical Jekyll & Hyde (song:  This Is The Moment ). "Fezzik, are there rocks ahead?" "If there are, we'll all be dead!" -- Inigo and Fezzik from movie, The Princess Bride . "I'm too sexy for my fangs."-- Gregori, from Kerrelyn Sparks'  book, Sexiest Vampire Alive . "We would call Monroe something else, except we don't want to want to insult donkeys." -- Bastian "Bast" Cantrell from my novel, Surreal . "I hav...

Laugh & Enjoy

Happy Monday Everyone, Hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was relaxing--which, I desperately needed. This week I hope to post the author interview I did recently. It's a really good one and I was very excited this author agreed to do it. If you're in need of a good laugh, I highly recommend hot-footing it over to Query Shark for her most recent post. Click here to see it . I laughed and laughed. Other than that, I'm gearing up for another week. I'll have more later this week, for now... Have A Marvelous Monday!

Oops!

Happy Thursday Everyone, Ever gone through your manuscript after a critique to edit and found that somehow you either left out a word, put in a wrong word, or somehow didn't manage to spell the word right? Two good things about this: 1.  You can take it out and fix the problem 2.  You just might have a hilarious outtake on your hands. (This is one of the reasons why it's important to edit your work before querying/sending it to an agent and/or editor!) One such thing happened to me awhile back. I had someone critique a manuscript of mine and I was going through one of the chapters and I came to this line: I take out my eyes. The note by it from the person critiquing the story read something along these lines:  Neat trick. How she do that? Oopsie! That was supposed to read:  I take out my keys. I don't know why it read "eyes" but I laughed over it. The good news is, not only did I laugh, but I fixed it so the sentence read "ke...

Terminology

Happy Friday Everyone, Ever seen the musical (or watched the movie version) The Music Man ? In it the mayor says "Watch your phraseology!" when his daughter uses slang. While thinking about this blog post the words "I devour books" came to mind, then of course, that quote popped into my head. Have you noticed that if you translated certain phrases literally they wouldn't be quite as fun as they are? Like devouring books. Who really wants to eat books? (Other than Kim Lenox's character in her Shadow Guards series ) I mean I read books at a pretty fast rate, so figuratively I devour them, but literally? Nah, I don't think I'd want to eat them. What about the figure of speech, "I could eat a horse"? Obviously we all know it means the person's very hungry, but what if someone (like say, the character, Amelia Bedelia --books by Peggy Parish ) took the speaker seriously and served them up a horse and handed them a fork and knife? Speaking o...

Just For Laughs

Morning All, Once again Bane gave me this idea with his blog post . With all the publicity I'm giving his blog, he should be getting a lot of visitors LOL. Oh and Marsha, too. Marsha's Walmart Post also plays a role in inspiring today's post. First of all, I have to tie it in with writing...since my blog is almost strictly about writing and writing path. So I'll do it this way. If any of you all have read either of my parodies, you'll remember how goofy my sense of humor is. Les was willing to have me parody his life. First when I made up the character of Catalina in Because Of The Pie , and the one I did for him and his friend, Bob in The Adventures of Super Les And His SideKick, Bob . Of course, there's other funny writings out there. Like Dave Barry and his various books. Or Jim Davis's Garfield or any other comic strips. But other than people's writing books with comedy in it, or lines/characters that make you laugh out loud (LOL) what else out th...
