Sometimes You Have To Kiss Frogs...

Happy Tuesday All, This once a week blogging seems to be working for me so far. Whether or not I stick to Tuesdays remains to be seen. I might choose to jump around. But for now, it works. For Christmas I received Book 8 of the Enchanted, Inc. series by Shanna Swendson . I've loved this series since I stumbled upon it one day some years ago, and waited and waited for Book 5, and then waited a little while for Books 6 and 7. I thought she had left the series behind after Book 7, but was happily surprised when she announced that in December 2016 there would be another one. I received this new one for Christmas and wanted to write a blog book review to tell you all about it. Katie Chandler and Owen Palmer are back! Freshly engaged, and glowing with that "I'm-in-love-and-narrowly-lost-my-soulmate-due-to-crazy-elves" glow, but unfortunately, their happiness isn't meant to last. Once more evil magic is in the air. People are disappearing and Katie is determined...

Surprise! ANGEL IN THE SHADOWS...

Happy Thursday All, Sometimes you come across an intriguing read in the bookstore. Sometimes the library. Sometimes while you're perusing the internet. And sometimes you didn't realize someone you knew had an intriguing read out until you see them talking about it. That's what happened to me recently, and boy am I glad I was paying attention... Because I almost missed out on a gripping read. Angel In The Shadows by Amy Deason is one of those snuck-up-on-me-and-sucked-me-right-in. Big time. (note: the genre for this novel is Romantic Suspense). I took a peek at the reviews and the blurb to get a feel for the novel, and decided to go ahead and try it out. She made me laugh-out-loud on the first page. Right away I was hooked. Anybody who can make me laugh on the very first page is bound to grab my attention. And then Amy hit me with the action and suspense. And I was sucked in. The novel is about an operative named Seth Reynolds who works for a company called T...

Motorcycles, Deep Characters, & More...

Happy Friday One & All, And also, Happy April! It's April 1st. No, I'm not going to play any April Fool's jokes on you. Just a straight post, so no worries. Today, though, is a surprise book review! No, the author didn't ask me this time, this is just me telling you about a book I read this week. On Tuesday, March 29, YA Contemporary author, Katie McGarry 's newest Thunder Road series book, Walk The Edge came out. I had pre-ordered an e-book copy and it arrived on Tuesday. I finished it at 11:38 p.m. (between family, and my own writing demands) I finished it. Razor and Breanna are excellent characters--complex, emotional, and deep. Katie's writing has a sense of honesty about it. I can't exactly explain it. Her characters are "broken" and/flawed, but want what's good and right in the world. They have a strong sense of justice. Even if they're down a bad or dark path, they want what's good. They want something right, ...

Take A Trip Into The Everglades...

Happy Friday All, I've decided to do an impromptu book review. Recently I finished reading Stacy Hoff 's Desire In The Everglades . When I read Anne B. Cole's blog post where Stacy made a guest appearance , her story and the background behind it intrigued me. Stacy and I emailed each other and decided to exchange books. She sent me a copy of Desire In The Everglades , and I sent her a copy of my novel, All's Fair In Love In Lion . Anyway, I finally got to sit down and read Stacy's story: Stephanie Lang has enough stress being a producer for Teleworld Broadcasting Company without being forced into working on the insane new show her boss and the Board of Directors have come up with. Seriously...a guy armed ONLY with a knife surviving in the Everglades? Have the higher ups lost their minds? But between being strong-armed and then catching the photo of Colin, who they plan to contract to be The Everglader , she finds herself agreeing to the whole idea. L...

You've Gone And Scorched The Eggs...

Happy Wednesday Everyone, I thought I only had two special blog posts this week, but it turns out I was wrong! Another one has been added. In the spirit of Christmas surprises, I give you a book review of author Laura Childs ' newest release: Things are bubbling and boiling merrily at the Cackleberry Club Diner, that is, until Suzanne (one of the proprietors) finds herself in the middle of a murder mystery. And all she wanted to do was get her hair done! However, hair will have to wait when the salon and the neighboring buildings go up in flames. But who started the fire that killed Hannah Venable? Sheriff Doogie callsn an arson-investigator to have a look at the evidence to uncover the who-done-it. Unfortunately, the list of suspects includes fellow Cackleberry Club employee, Kit's fiance. But d id Ricky do it? Or was it hot-headed Marty Wolfson? Perhaps the victim's two-timing husband was the culprit? While Suzanne juggles plates and Petra's yummy offe...

If You Say His Name...

Happy Thursday  Everybody, Recently, I struck a deal with author Marie Hall (which it’s kind of funny for me to say “struck a deal” given the character of this novel). She was kind and generous enough to allow me the opportunity to read and review her upcoming release, Rumpel’s Prize.   This novel is filled with suspense, adventure, sizzling romance, and mystery…just like  Rumpelstiltskin  himself. Rumpel is a cursed man of darkness. His life is made up of deals, contracts, dancing-around-the-truth, secrets, and loneliness.  He knows nothing else, and in many ways, he revels in his life. After all, he's powerful and he's feared. He gets what he wants and nobody can do a darned thing about it. But he's a man on a mission. A very important mission, so he travels the land of Kingdom, seeking the answer to his problem. To aid him in his quest is his list of names who have contracts with him. His travels takes him to the home of Gerard and Be...

Kylie's Story Comes To An End...

Happy Monday All, Yes, I know the time-stamp on my blog post says Sunday, but this is actually meant to be Monday's post, I'm just posting it a little early. Part of the reason being because I actually have a moment and the other part being that this weekend has been rather rough. Offspring got sick with I don't-know-what, and so Husband and I were dealing with that all weekend. Once again, the Husband proved why I call him my real life hero (he was quite heroic, on more than one occasion, and trust me, I got all mushy talking to a friend of mine about it). But setting that unpleasantness aside... Author C.C. Hunter returns with t he final installment of Kylie Galen's story is jammed packed with the return of ghosts, Mario--the evil vampire, and all our friends from Shadow Falls . Kylie thought going to her species' hideout would mean feeling less of an outsider, but even worse than camp, the other chameleons regard her with fear and suspicion. Most of her ...

Just A Little Note...

Happy Friday Everyone, If you don't see me much next week it's because I got some family visiting from out of town. However, I will be posting an official blog review on March 1st. I will be posting another official blog review on March 5th. In between, I don't know how much I will be posting on the blog until the week of March 5th (that's a Monday). Meanwhile, I hope you all have a fantastic and fun weekend! Also, welcome to the new blog follower(s)! Have A Fabulous Friday!
