Hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was pretty good. I've been working on getting Book Three in my Immortal Dreams Trilogy written. So while I'm working on that and you my darling readers are awaiting the release of Book Two, Astral Love, how about another kind of story while you wait?

Today I've got author Joanne Guidoccio with me and she's here to talk about her novel, Between Land And Sea, which is on sale for 99 cents on Amazon Kindle (Links can be found at the end of the blog post).

So I'm going to let Joanne tell you about writing her novel and a little bit about the novel itself...

While planning Between Land and Sea, I considered different fantasy elements.

What advantage could I bestow upon a beautiful mermaid who had

given up her tail and lost her mermaid powers?

A magic wand came to mind, but I quickly dismissed a possibility often associated with fairy godmothers and benevolent elders. In this case, there was no such elder. Her grandmother (and chief elder of the Mediterranean Kingdom) had reacted quickly and savagely to her granddaughter’s defection, aging her thirty years and adding twenty pounds to her slender frame.

I let several ideas percolate and then settled on a magic tablet with online mermaid support. For twelve months, Barbara would have access to Lisa738, a Numbers Mermaid programmed to provide basic and Specialist Skills.

Excerpt

Barbara picked up the tablet and pressed the green button.

Lisa738 appeared. “Greetings, Isa— Barbara. What can I do for you today?”

“I’m giving my first dinner party and I’m not certain—”

Lisa738 interrupted, “You need a Specialist Skills button. No problem, but I think you should know that you are only entitled to two more of these buttons during the coming year.”

Barbara made a mental note to ask Gillian for more information regarding the tablet. “Of course. What will I be able to do with this button?”

“You will be able to whip up any dish in any cuisine. You will also have an extensive knowledge of the ingredients and nutritional value of any meal you create.”

“Like Martha Stewart?”

Lisa738 laughed. “Martha Stewart. Rachel Ray. Nigella Lawson. You will be able to hold your own with any of them.” She pointed to the new button that appeared below the screen.

Barbara picked up the button, peeled off the coating, applied it to her left temple, and waited for the unsettling sensation. This time, the experience was more intense. Barbara lost her balance and had to hold on to a nearby chair for support.

Lisa738 winced. “I forgot to warn you about the power of the Specialist Skills buttons. You may need to lie down for an hour or so. Are you planning a large dinner party?”

It must be very lonely for Lisa738 in the underwater kingdom. Barbara recalled her few interactions with other Numbers mermaids. She knew that they spent long hours in front of terminals and did not socialize with the other mermaids. She decided to be kind. “No, it will just be Graham and me.”

Lisa738 nodded in approval. “How is that progressing?”

“We’ve been going out for almost two months now. Our relationship is a comfortable one.”

“Is that enough for you? In spite of all that has happened, you are still a Bella. You need and deserve passion.”

I Return, Bearing News...

Happy Wednesday Everyone,

Life has been a bit on busy side. I was doing some edits and now I've been working on another novel. Offspring is dealing with weather changes and respiratory annoyances, but I think offspring should be okay. (And yes, I have started my Christmas shopping).

Most often you'll find me on Twitter. I'm finding that there's a lot going on there. Whatever you think of Twitter (good, bad, indifferent) it's definitely often where you get information first. I find out about blog posts, give aways and releases that way. You'll find the posts I post on Twitter in the margin of this blog under the header: Twitter Feed.

Tuesday C.C. Hunter posed a question on her blog regarding her Shadow Falls series. If you've read them, are you Team Derek or Team Lucas. I answered on her blog (I am so Team Lucas I could start a cheer!) Anyway, go ahead and check it out--it's lots of fun.

I'm so far behind on things for this blog, I don't even know who I'm going to have on here for a December Author Interview. Not even sure if I will have an author interview for that month. I'm thinking of trying to have a give away--maybe 2 or 3 instead. You tell me what you prefer. There is a possible January Author Interview, but I have to talk to her and see if she's still interested.

Awesome news:  Tera Lynn Childs is going to have a 3rd book in her mermaid series called Just For Fins. I loved the first two, Forgive My Fins and Fins Are Forever.

I'm seriously having trouble keeping myself from begging Josephine Angelini to send me an ARC of Dreamless. I'm nuts about Starcrossed and would love to read and review on this blog, Dreamless.

I'm currently reading Jane Austen Made Me Do It, which is an anthology of short stories written by authors who have been inspired by Jane Austen. I'm almost done with the second story. It's really fun. You've heard me talk about Syrie James, and she has a story in this anthology (I enjoyed it).

My pile of books to read is huge...I'm trying to catch up, honest, it's just with everything else I've got going on, I've gotten slow. I have  a library book that isn't real long so I should have it done, soon.

I have become a big fan of ABC's Once Upon A Time. It airs on Sundays at 7 p.m. Central and 8 p.m. Eastern Time. Of course, you know I just love fairy tales, so it's no surprise that this show has me riveted.

A Fin-Ish Delight

A good story always makes me extremely happy. I love being taken to "another world" so to speak (whether it's actual other world, or just the author's world).

The other day I finished reading Forgive My Fins by Tera Lynn Childs. This book makes me so happy. It was a lot fun, plus there was enough romantic scenes to make a mushy romantic like me happy.

Forgive My Fins was an extremely fast read for me. I just had trouble putting it down. I started it in the afternoon and finished at 2 a.m. (there long  breaks in between when I had to do other things--like take a nap, and be with my family). Awesome book and I just can't wait until I get to read the sequel.

In Forgive My Fins, Lily (Princess Waterlily when under the sea) is half-mermaid/half-human (merman for a dad, human for a mom). For 14 years she lived in her father's kingdom, until her dad finally told her that her mother (who died when Lily was still a baby) was a human. So, Lily's made her way onto land, to live with her mother's sister, Rachel.

As heir to the throne, Lily has to choose a mate--that is, kiss a boy and that starts the bonding process. Lily has the perfect boy in mind--swimming wonder Brody Bennett. He's comfortable in the water and on land, gorgeous, and her knight-in-shining armour.

Unfortunately Lily is plagued (and thwarted in her goal) by next-door-neighbor motorcycle bad-boy, Quince Fletcher. Quince doesn't care what others think of him and thinks Lily shouldn't either. But Lily sees Quince as an annoyance, a real "blowfish".

But what happens in a dark library will change everything. Including what Lily thought she saw in those around her.

This is a fun YA Fantasy (with comedy sprinkled liberally) that I've fallen for hook, line, and sinker. I'm very excited to read the sequel and I love Tera Lynn Childs' breezy style. So get your tail fins over to your nearest bookstore and hook yourself a copy. Last one there is a guppy!
