Quite Quotable!

Happy Tuesday All, It's so rainy and gloomy today, which is not cool. The rain is good, but the gloom? Not so much. So we're going to have to find ways to brighten things up in spite of the grayness outside. Yesterday, a writer-buddy of mine (and fellow blogger), Marsha,  posted a fun post with quotes . So I thought today I'd pull some of my favorite quotes from various sources and post them here: "Give me this moment. This precious chance."--Dr. Jekyll from the musical Jekyll & Hyde (song:  This Is The Moment ). "Fezzik, are there rocks ahead?" "If there are, we'll all be dead!" -- Inigo and Fezzik from movie, The Princess Bride . "I'm too sexy for my fangs."-- Gregori, from Kerrelyn Sparks'  book, Sexiest Vampire Alive . "We would call Monroe something else, except we don't want to want to insult donkeys." -- Bastian "Bast" Cantrell from my novel, Surreal . "I hav...

Quite The Quotable

Happy Monday All, I was watching one of the cable channels and it was saying Saturday they were going to show the movie Pretty In Pink . I love that movie. I had the VHS version of it, then my VCR broke and I haven't replaced the VHS version with the DVD yet. There's just some movies that you hold onto, even twenty or so years later, you still love 'em. And can quote them. A good example is The Princess Bride . I think my family can recite almost (if not the entire) movie. ("Chocolate helps it go down easier."--Valerie from The Princess Bride) . When I was growing up all it took to set me and my whole family quoting lines/songs from the musical 1776 was to say one line. ("Simple! Johnny here's obnoxious and disliked."--Richard Henry Lee, 1776). Of course you can't forget Casablanca and "Here's looking at you, kid." ( Humphrey Bogart's mannerisms help define the word "suave"). So what movies do you think ...

The Quotables

Hello Thursday-ers, Recently I've been on this The Princess Bride movie quoting kick. (Could you tell since one of the posts this week was a quote from that movie?) That movie just was great. I've seen it so many times and I'd watch it again. But, there's also other movies out there that are fun to quote. For instance: 1776 . It actually quotes from some of the diaries and letters of the members of the Continental Congress of the time (such as John Adams, Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, John Hancock). (Where do you think we get the phrase: "Put your John Hancock on that?" think the story behind John Hancock's signature on the Declaration Of Independence) Aside from the obvious historical relevance of the quotes from actual documents, there's some really awesome quotes whether they came from those documents are not within the movie: Howard Da Silva as Ben Franklin: "If we don't hang together we'll most assuredly hang separately."
