It's 2015!

Happy New Year Darling Readers,

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year's.

The Averie Household continues to be busy. I'm still working on getting Immortal Love ready to turn into my publisher (although, getting closer--thank goodness!)

Christmas was nice. We went to Church for the vigil on Christmas Eve, and enjoyed the rest of the evening as a family. The next day presents were opened and we headed for my parents' house for more presents and Christmas dinner. My father made gluten free chocolate chip cookies and a gluten free apple pie (thank you, dad!) which were both really good. The ham was awesome, too (I can't eat turkey, I'm allergic to it, so Dad had turkey and ham--yes, he loves me!) We hung out with some friends of my folks and family members. The next day (Friday), one of my brothers made it into town and we saw them Saturday for dinner. Sunday we relaxed at home.

This week has been mostly hanging out at home, but busy. I finished reading As You Wish Inconceivable Tales From The Making Of The Princess Bride by Cary Elwes and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's not written as an expose, or even a definitive behind-the-scenes type book, but more like a memory book for some of the cast and crew to talk about their experiences. Cary is tremendously humble. The entire cast and crew very supportive of each other--which I really appreciated. It was nice to read something that was so positive and heartwarming. I laughed out loud in some places and felt for the actors in others. It was a fun read.

The new year brings a flurry of activity for me. Working hard to get Immortal Love turned in. I plan to work on several other writing projects I hope to work on throughout the year, not to mention expecting the new baby sometime this year. Which means I don't know how often I will be posting on the blog. I don't have an assistant (maybe one day!) so I have to figure out how to delegate my time and I have responsibilities in my real life, too. I will try, though.

I wish you all a very blessed, safe, healthy, and happy new year 2015. May it be, as Jason Magnus in the Immortal Dreams Trilogy would say, "awesomeness."

Have A Fantastically Fabulous Friday!

Surprises Turned Into Awesomeness

Happy 2013 Everyone!

Welcome back! New year, fresh start, and all that fun jazz.

Kleenex
for all the runny/
sniffly noses!

I hope that so far 2013 is treating you right, although I understand a few folks out there have been fighting off icky illness stuff, and my thoughts and prayers are with them. Offspring has sinus infection, so I feel your pain. I've had allergies (again), but I'm doing all right otherwise (thank you, God!)

My Holidays are not over, yet. The Christmas Season ends on Epiphany, so my decorations are staying up through January 6th. I know some folks go back to work or have their teen aged able-bodied children help them take stuff down while they're at home, but in general, I beg of you, please leave those decorations up through January 6th, if you possibly can! We rush through things at such a great rate these days, taking time to be grateful and to count our blessings is important. As a Christian, it's a good reminder to me that Christ came for all people (from poor Shepherds to rich wise men).

I spent a good portion of the week before Christmas working on my YA novel, Dream Weaver. I'm pleased to announce (to those who hadn't read my Facebook status) that it's written! I'm in the editing process to get it ready for my critique partner and beta reader (and any other critique-ers I end up asking to have a peek at it) so that I can start getting it out. This story started out as a challenge to myself--one my Critique Partner was unaware she had issued. Tess once said to me "I think you should write YA..." she went on to describe WHY she thought I should and I thought "Naahhh. I like to read it, but every time I write it, it doesn't work."

However, one day I sitting in front of my computer and I thought "Well, why not give it a shot? See if you could do it. You don't have to tell anyone and you could use it as a way to keep ideas flowing when you're having trouble with your main projects." So, I pulled up a story idea I had started on but hadn't completely hashed out and converted it. I figured the whole thing would make a good SIDE project. Yeah, it didn't STAY a side project. LOL

I had wanted to complete it by Christmas, but I managed to get it done the day after.

So now I'm editing it, and getting ready to get back to some of my other projects, which were always main projects!

Dream Weaver will have a sequel--I don't know about any other stories after the sequel and the series is called Immortal Dreams.

Oh, by the way, the unintentional challenge is the reason Dream Weaver is dedicated to Tess St. John, my critique partner.

We'll see what happens next with it!

I'm waiting to hear from my publisher on editing and the next steps for Surreal, but I will let you know what's up when I have information I can share about it. Thank you so much for all your support on Surreal's journey. Monroe (the hero of Surreal) is also pleased & grateful by the support (which, it isn't always easy to impress him!) The ornament that represents him is still high up on my Christmas tree watching over me and my family and all the festivities until after January 6th when it'll have to be put away until next Christmas Season.

Did you have any surprises that turned into a box of awesomeness this Season?

Have A Wonderful Wednesday!

Happy New Year: 2012!

Happy New Year & Happy Monday Everyone!

Hope everyone has a safe, wonderful, and blessed new year!

2012 has started off pretty well for me so far. I'm feeling much better (thank you to everyone for the well wishes and support). I finished reading a couple of books that I plan on talking about on here this week.

As I'm entering the 3rd year of working on this blog, I'd like your feedback. Not counting giveaways (because I think we all look forward to those), what posts on here do you like the best? Please let me know in the comment section of this post.

Have A Marvelous Monday!

Happy New Year!

Happy Friday All,

My counter in the margins says it's 12 hours and less than 30 minutes until the new year. Wow, hard to believe 2011 is already just hours away.

It seems like once I hit adulthood time started going faster, when in reality it was the same amount of time, just felt differently.

I can remember approaching the 2000 finding it totally mind blowing that we were entering the 21st century. Now I'm sitting her going "I never even contemplated 2011." (Anyone else feel this way?)

I hope all of you have a blessed, safe, and wonderful New Year's.

Every year has brought different good  (and sometimes not-so-good) things. Here's to finding out what 2011 brings (hopefully more good than bad).

What's your plans for the new year?

Happy New Year one and all :-)

Have A Fantastic Friday!

To Resolve Or Not To Resolve--Do You?

Happy Thursday All,

I didn't post on Wednesday. We had stormy weather and I had other things to do, so I had to skip Wednesday.

New Year's is just around the corner and a lot of people make Resolutions. I don't. However, I do know there are a few things I can keep doing in the new year. Keep writing and growing as an author. Keep working on my manuscripts and story ideas. Keep working at putting myself out there.

So, what about you? Do you make New Year's Resolutions? If so, do you mind sharing them?

Have A Thoughtful Thursday!

The Week Before Christmas

Happy Tuesday All,

The week before Christmas and all through the house, there isn't any stirring, fortunately not even a mouse. The stockings aren't hung because we have no hooks, but it doesn't matter, Santa is not one for whom we look (we celebrate St. Nicholas Day instead), the presents are bought and almost all ready, the days are progressing at a rate that is steady. The writing keeps going, it's something that must. I'm taking this time to wish you a Christmas with the fun kind of fuss.

The New Year will come on the week after, filled with joy, prayers, and lots of laughter.

I hope you have a wonderful Holiday, and may God bring you blessings, books, and happily-ever-afters.

(Disclaimer:  Even if you don't believe in God, I still wish you blessings, books and happily-ever-afters).

Have A Tinsel-Filled Tuesday!

It's Right Around The Corner

Happy Monday All,

Just 5 more days until Christmas. Can you believe it? If you're in denial about how close it is, I'd recommend not looking at the countdown in the margin of this blog. LOL

This time of year, with New Year's the week after Christmas, it's been a "look back on the year" season for a lot of things--everything from the Internet to television.

For me, the previous year had it's bright spots, but it also had its rough spots.

Two of my uncles died, as well as two friends. One of the friends that died was someone I graduated high school with and I'm still in shock about it. It's hard to imagine such a thing happening.

On the bright side, I managed to finish editing (and start the query process on) a manuscript. As well as go into a pitch session for the first time, which is even more further along than I was a year ago. I like the idea of progressing forward--learning and growing and improving.

There was also a birth of a new nephew, and a wedding and seeing family. Many wonderful things to be happy about.

So, what about you? What memories of 2010 come back to you amid the bustle of the season?

Have A Merry Monday!

Hey It's On It's Way!

Happy Monday All,

I just looked my calendar and realized counting this week, 3 weeks left of 2010. Weird, huh? I think this year went by faster than I expected.

I'm plotting some of the things for the blog for next year. Already have one author in mind to ask for an email interview, and 3 others I'd love to ask. (One I already have asked, but I think either my email got lost or she was very busy and didn't get to it). (By the way, don't hesitate to comment or email me if there's some author you're really hoping I'd look into asking for an interview!)

I'm also planning to get query letters for a manuscript started out very soon (hopefully THIS week--gotta do a couple of things first). So positive thoughts/prayers/crossing fingers all of that is much appreciated.

I haven't made any New Year's Resolutions for 2011, but I think some of them are a lot of the same of what I'd say for this year. Work on writing, work on improving the craft and all of that. What are yours?

As we continue counting down to Christmas and New Year's, tell me what's up in your life!

Happy Writing :-)

Have A Merry Monday!
