Burning Questions -- The Answers...

Happy Monday All, Here's hoping everyone had a great weekend! Mine was busy. Saturday we had offspring soccer game. Sunday we went to church and then we had family time. In the evening, offspring and Daddy went off to have time together (ran errands and hung out) while I watched the Season 3 Premier of Once Upon A Time (which was really good, by the way! Totally not the Peter Pan we're used to from the animated movie). I think it'll be a good season. Last week I asked everyone to post or email their "burning questions" about my writing. A couple of you left me some really good questions, so today I'm taking the time to answer them: Susan M. asked:   I notice that you write in first person, present tense Is there a reason you chose this? Is it difficult and will your future books be written in this tense? My answer:   My Third Realm Romances (what All’s Fair In Love & Lion is, and the subsequent companion novels that are in the same world) ar...

Reminder, Updates, Fathers' Day...

Happy Tuesday Everybody, Hope you all had a great weekend! Happy Belated Fathers' Day to all the fathers out there. In honor of Father's Day, I'd like to say I'm pretty darned lucky to have the Dad I do. Also, very blessed that my husband is such a good father, as well. My editor said I should receive my 2nd round edits soon, so once those come in, I'll be secluded in the edits cave until they are done--so I might not have too many blog posts. However... The first date of the Bethany Averie Blog Tour is NEXT Friday--June 28th. I'll be on Four Foxes One Hound as Tonette's guest. Check the blog margin for other dates and info (or previous blog posts).  Also, I'm working on a homepage. I will be keeping this blog. I just From the Botanical Gardens when I went on my Arkansas Adventure want to have a "central" location for certain things I'd like to feature without cluttering up my blog margin. I'll let you know when that...

The Arkansas Adventure Begins...

Happy Weekend Everyone! I normally don't post on the weekends, but I have a bunch of pictures from our road trip up to see my in-laws in Arkansas, so I thought I'd go ahead and start today. We traveled up a longer distance going up there, but it took us through the Boston Mountains. The roads were narrow, windy, and steep, but the scenery was gorgeous! Check it out... The road sign in this picture pretty much tells you what the road was like: There were places along the road where it was possible to pull over and take pictures. Some of these aren't so pretty (because of the fences) however, my husband got a couple of awesome pics: Anyway, that's the BEGINNING of the adventures in Arkansas. Stay tuned for more... Have A Wonderful Weekend!

Weekend, Fun Books, New Releases, & Such...

Happy Tuesday All, I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend, and found something fun to do. My husband, parents, and I went to an Italian restaurant to hear author, Raymond Benson , play the piano. Not only is the man a multi-published author, but he's a very accomplished pianist. We had a great time hearing him play, and I got to visit with him, his wife, and a few of my chapter mates afterwards. My family and I also had a nice dinner at the restaurant. I got to introduce my chapter mates to my family, which was fun, too. Next week is super-duper busy for me, so I'll probably won't be posting any blog posts. I'm working on revisions for my YA novel, and working on the companion/sequel for All's Fair In Love & Lion , on top of everything else going on. I expect the 2nd round of edits for AFIL&L soon, too. (After all, July 10th is getting closer!) While I'm busy with all these many things, here's some books to keep you happily o...

Drumroll, Please!

Happy Monday All, I hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was good and bad. Bad because I wasn't feeling well on Sunday, but good because I saw one of my out-of-town sisters and her family on Friday night. As to why I have the drumroll in the title of this blog? Well, I have some Surreal news for you... Surreal has a brand new title... The new title is... ALL'S FAIR IN LOVE & LION So be watching for more news on All's Fair In Love & Lion to come very soon. Especially the fact I will be announcing the release date soon. Just going to get that go ahead from my publisher. Have A Marvelously Magical Monday!

Valentine's Day, Book Recommendation & Update

Happy Tuesday All, Hope everyone had a great weekend! I was a busy little bee this weekend. Offspring had a game, then I had to do some spring/summer wardrobe shopping, and Sunday was Church and relaxation. The answer to the question about if there is any news on the contracted novel is that when there is something I can share I will post it here. If you've been watching my Twitter Feed (whether following me on Twitter or checking the margin of this blog) you might have seen some posts where I recommended books. For all of you who missed them, here's the recommendations I made for Valentine's Day: I started out with Historical Romance... Friday's Child by Georgette Heyer (probably my number 2 favorite Heyer novel) If you're into Fairy Tales, I mentioned this YA: Beastly by Alex Flinn Sassy Fiction... The Secret Ingredient by Jane Heller I even touched on Mid-grade... Betsy's Wedding by Maud Hart Lovelace (but I recommend reading the oth...

A Brief Note -- Update

Hello Everyone, Normally I don't post on the weekend, but for those of you not on my Facebook page , I thought I better let you know a few things: 1.  My blog was closed most of the week because I'm working on a novel. Information on the novel I'm working on can be found in the margin of this blog underneath the information on Surreal . 2. Earlier this week I had an annoymous person trying to post a comment...normally I don't have problems with people posting annoymously, however, my comment section is NOT for advertising your webpages (I don't mind if you you have a link to your webpage under your name or if your name links to your webpage, just please do NOT  advertise about it in the comment section). The only time I do any kind of "advertising" or plugging businesses is when I've had personal experience with the website and/or that website has something to do with writing and/or books. If you want your business advertised, my comment section...

Laugh & Enjoy

Happy Monday Everyone, Hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was relaxing--which, I desperately needed. This week I hope to post the author interview I did recently. It's a really good one and I was very excited this author agreed to do it. If you're in need of a good laugh, I highly recommend hot-footing it over to Query Shark for her most recent post. Click here to see it . I laughed and laughed. Other than that, I'm gearing up for another week. I'll have more later this week, for now... Have A Marvelous Monday!

Thirteen Things I've Learned From TAKEN AT DUSK--Guest Post By C.C. Hunter

Happy Tuesday All, Before I get to C.C. Hunter's guest post (as noted in the title of this post) I hope you all had a great Easter. I apologize for so much silence. Last week I took most of Holy Week off and had a friend visiting, and Monday I had some thing else going on, so I was unable to post on here. I have the wonderful and talented C.C. Hunter as guest today, describing 13 things she learned from TAKEN AT DUSK , which is available today (Tuesday, April 10, 2012) from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other bookstores. So, take it away, C.C.! Thirteen Things Learned From TAKEN AT DUSK by C.C. Hunter 1. The only thing worse than trying to help a woman with amnesia remember her name and life is trying to help a dead woman with amnesia remember hers. 2. Be careful what you wish for—you might just get it . . . and the reality will probably not be anything like the fantasy. 3. The person you think is your enemy could just turn into a friend who'll do anything to...

Party, Fairy Tales, & Fun

Happy Monday All, Tomorrow Kerrelyn Sparks' newest vampire romance will hit the shelves...that's right Wanted: Undead Or Alive will finally be available. Kerrelyn is going to be at Katy Budget Books for a launch party from 6 to 8 p.m. (central time) signing books and celebrating Phineas's story's release on Tuesday, March 27, 2012. ABC's Once Upon A Time continues to unfold...this time they gave a nod to Alice In Wonderland . I thought it was a fitting tribute and the plot is definitely thickening! So did everyone have a good weekend? I went out with some friends of mine on Saturday. It was a lot of fun.  Anyway...it's a new week, hope it's a great one! Have A Marvelous Monday!

Don't Forget To Wear Green!

Happy Friday All, In honor of the fact Saturday (tomorrow) is St. Patrick's Day, I thought I'd post in green colored font. When I was a kid we had a couple of Irish ladies stay with us. It was a lot of fun. There was a few years where we got to ride in the St. Patrick's Day parade with them. It was fun. There's a lot of legends centering around St. Patrick--one of the most popular is that he drove the snakes out of Ireland. Whatever St. Patrick did or did not do, I think for the most part, people agree he was a real person. Of course, tradition has it that it's a day to wear green, and celebrate all things Irish. So, I wish you all a happy St. Patrick's Day and a safe weekend. Have A Fantastical Friday!

Watch Out For The Wolf!

Happy Monday All, Golly! That is one mid-week through weekend I do not hope to repeat. My family came down with a stomach bug (seemed like some kind of stomach flu) and I don't wish it on anyone. We're doing much better, and I'm  working on getting back to 100 percent feeling like my well self instead of my sick self, but I'm much better than I was. I hope the rest of you have been staying well. Sunday was my weekly watching of Once Upon A Time and the theme was Red Riding Hood , which was pretty interesting in and of itself, but the night before my husband and I had watched the movie of Red Riding Hood that came out awhile back, so it feels like I had a very Red Riding Hood weekend. So in the spirit of that, I thought I'd also mention another retelling, in the form of a YA novel, called Scarlet Moon by  Debbie Viguié  which I have read more than once. It's a great retelling. Very inspiring and creative. In the TV show it played with the id...

See You Monday...

Happy Friday Everyone, You made it! It's Friday! Hope you all had a good week. Life keeps moving along on my end. It's been pretty chilly this week after all the rain we had on Monday. I'm taking today off from posting, but I'll be back on Monday. Enjoy your weekend. Hope you have some fun things planned! See y'all on Monday! Have A Fantastic Friday!

Christmas Wishes To You & Yours

Happy Friday All, This weekend is Christmas! I hope all of you and your near and dear ones have a very Merry, safe, blessed, and wonderful Christmas! I'll be spending Christmas with my family and some of my family-of-origin. Dad is going to be cooking away (he's a great cook) and we'll be attending Church and having gift exchange. I'm very much looking forward to it all. Relatives of mine I haven't seen in awhile are in town, so I'm looking forward to seeing them, and, of course, the friends I'll be seeing as well. Everyone be safe and I'll see y'all next week :-) What's your plans for Christmas?  Have A Festive Friday!

What's Your POV?

Happy Monday Everyone, This past weekend the illustrious Christie Craig gave a special workshop to the Northwest Houston Romance Writers of America , which, I'm proud to say I'm a member of this awesome group. The workshop was called "High Tea & POV" although, I don't know how many people actually consumed tea (I had water), but we sure listened in rapt attention as Christie talked about getting into your character's heads. In fact...that's precisely what POV is. POV--point of view. Which character is telling the story? Is it your heroine? Then you see, feel, hear, smell, taste, experience intuition and thoughts of that character. These are things that I've talked about with my C.P. but I'm not always consciously aware of them while I'm writing. When I'm writing I'm imaging how the character reacts based on what I know about the character. I'm reacting and visualizing. When I go back and edit I'm looking at the dialogu...

The Weekend Commeth And I Plan To Attend A Tea Party With Christie Craig...

Happy Friday Folks, Well my household is doing much better in terms of health, so I am ready to do a happy dance. I'm feeling quite a bit better, myself, so I'm really happy about that! I'm learning Twitter...slowly, but kinda getting the hang of it. But don't worry I'm not quitting the blog posts. Like I said, just super busy until after the Lone Star Conference --which by the way, if you're a writer, you're invited! I am waiting with baited breath, excitement and impatience for September 27th! That's when Kerrelyn Sparks' newest Love At Stake book, Sexiest Vampire Alive is released. This is Gregori's story. He's my favorite vamp (the Vamps are the nickname for good vampires--Malcontents are the bad guys--fitting, huh?) This weekend I'm hanging out with my NWHRWA buddies. Christie Craig is doing a workshop for us and I can't wait to hear what she has to say. If you ever get a chance to hear her do a talk/workshop--GO! Sh...
