What's-Her-Face...?

Happy Friday Everybody! Recently I finished writing a Romance that features shape-shifters. This is not a YA (Young Adult) novel. Considering that my aim is not YA with this novel, and I'd been thinking about it for a long time, I decided to develop another pen-name strictly for those types of novels. Bethany Averie will remain associated with the Immortal Dreams series and any other YA novels I write. Jeannie Averie will be for the NON -YA Romance novels (Paranormal and Fantasy) that I write. The Jeannie Averie novels will be for ages 18/21 and up. Bethany Averie novels are high school and up. There isn't a drastic difference, except that the Jeannie Averie novels are a bit different in style and tone. Slightly "hotter".  So they need a different pen-name. Now, why do I use pen names? I like to keep my personal life separate from my professional life. Yes, tiny details of my personal life seep into my professional life, but the two are not exactly the...

5 Things Throwback Thursday Style...

Happy Thursday All, In honor of Throwback Thursday, here's 5 things you might not know about yours truly... 1. I was never a fan of most boy bands...not even New Kids On The Block, N'Sync, or the Backstreet Boys, but I knew people who were. However, I've always liked the Ramones. And I am a fan of Straight No Chaser. Me and Sarah on the occasion of her wedding 2.  I got a B in Shakespeare Class (the English course I took in high school). My friend, Sarah, (who died in 2013) tutored me. My learning disabilities made some of the lectures the teacher gave hard for me to understand, but I was too shy to tell the teacher that, so I asked Sarah for help. She got an A. LOL (Nowadays I'd probably ask, but back then I was too nervous--I'm sure my teacher would laugh to know this--she was a wonderful teacher, and I enjoyed having her for a teacher, I just was shy to ask for help from her). 3.  I took horseback riding lessons starting from around the time I was ab...

Talking About Learning Disabilities/Challenges Part 3...

Happy Tuesday Everybody, Thank you for joining us on this blog series. Today is the last one. The comments and response has been wonderful--thank you for that as well! There are young people in the world struggling with learning differences (sometimes called learning disabilities) who may or may not feel they aren’t as good as those who don’t have these disabilities/challenges. The three of us—Bethany Averie, Ryan Jo Summers, and Christie Craig—have all faced learning disabilities/difficulties and based on our personal experiences, and what we see in the world today, were inspired to share our own stories with you. We’ll be posting each author’s Q&A style on all our blogs. Today is the last day with author Christie Craig's interview up. Our wish is for you teens and young adults to never be afraid to dream big. In a world where less than someone’s definition of perfect can mean the difference between acceptance and rejection, we want you to stand up and pursue...

Talking Learning Challenges/Disabilities Part 2

Happy Tuesday Everybody, We're continuing the Learning Challenges/Disabilities blog series.  For those just joining us, I will include the preface I had up for last week. Last week was Bethany Averie. This week will feature Ryan Jo Summers, then the next Christie Craig.  Our wish is for you teens and young adults to never be afraid to dream big. In a world where less than someone’s definition of perfect can mean the difference between acceptance and ...

Celebrating New Release: IMMORTAL DREAMS BOOK ONE: DIVINE LOVE!

Happy Thursday Everybody, Wow! It feels like ages since I updated my blog. I have been swamped, darling readers! For 2 weeks I was dealing with health issues--mine and family's, and edits, and real life. But me and the family are now well, and the edits got in, and while real life is still busy, I have some space to finally post a new blog post...and what a perfect reason! Today I am overjoyed to announce my New Adult (NA) Paranormal Romance (first in a trilogy),  Immortal Dreams Book One: Divine Love is now available for your reading pleasure on Amazon Kindle!! To say I'm happy is an understatement. *Insert huge smile and giddy feelings here* Below you can read the blurb: Laney Alberts should be enjoying her senior year of high school. Instead, she’s mourning the death of her beloved father—her hero. Even after a year without him, she still feels directionless.  Things take a complete one-eighty when she literally walks into Jason Magnus, the hot, new guy at ...

Classics Week: Last Day--"Stepping Through The Wardrobe"

Happy Friday All, Wow! It’s been such a fun week with learning more about different Classic novels, and other authors’ work. If you haven’t checked out yesterday’s post with TinaBausinger , please do. I think it’s fascinating. To close out Classics Week, you get yours truly (me) for today. There are many authors I could have chosen to talk about today, however, CS Lewis is an author I've particularly enjoyed. So I’m going to go ahead and focus on him and his Chronicles Of Narnia . You could say in some sense, Aslan from the series influenced All’s Fair In Love & Lion a bit—given Monroe , like Aslan, (when Monroe was in his lion form) could speak My Monroe Christmas ornament, given to me by one of my sisters and be understood, was majestic. In the stories, Aslan sacrifices himself, and sacrifice comes into play in my story, as well. However, the thing about Narnia that appealed to me was how each adventure was full of imagination, wonder, a...

Burning Questions -- The Answers...

Happy Monday All, Here's hoping everyone had a great weekend! Mine was busy. Saturday we had offspring soccer game. Sunday we went to church and then we had family time. In the evening, offspring and Daddy went off to have time together (ran errands and hung out) while I watched the Season 3 Premier of Once Upon A Time (which was really good, by the way! Totally not the Peter Pan we're used to from the animated movie). I think it'll be a good season. Last week I asked everyone to post or email their "burning questions" about my writing. A couple of you left me some really good questions, so today I'm taking the time to answer them: Susan M. asked:   I notice that you write in first person, present tense Is there a reason you chose this? Is it difficult and will your future books be written in this tense? My answer:   My Third Realm Romances (what All’s Fair In Love & Lion is, and the subsequent companion novels that are in the same world) ar...

Those Burning Questions...

Happy Monday All, Did everyone have a good weekend? Mine was mostly okay. I had a high school reunion to attend, which went all right. It was hard without my friend, Sarah (the one who died in February), but I wasn't sorry I went. Everyone I spoke to was very nice. It's fun to see how people are doing these days. I've decided to do something different. I'm going to give y'all some time to come up with some questions to ask me and then I'll answer them at some later date.  Please keep the questions related to my writing or characters. You can ask me what you want about All's Fair In Love & Lion (read it and had a question about a scene or a character, feel free to ask). If it's a "spoiler" question (meaning something about the plot that might give something away) please put: ***SPOILER ALERT*** to let others know (especially if they haven't read it!) >>>>>>Just leave your questions in the comment section of...

Happy Tuesday Everybody, If you look in the right hand margin (I hope everyone can see it) you'll see the countdown clock for when All's Fair In Love & Lion is released. If you can see it, you'll notice there's just HOURS left to wait! I can hear Monroe (in his lion form) roaring his approval. He's ready for him and Sasha's grand debut into the published world. You can share in his joy and anticipation tomorrow and buy the book from Amazon Kindle. From what I understand from my publisher, the book will be available in other e-formats about 3 months from now, and several more months from now available in-print. When I get more of those details, I'll pass them along. Based on Frequently Asked Questions I've gotten:  Yes, I will post links on where to get it. No, as far as I know, it's not available for pre-order. I think that covers it. Tomorrow I'll also be appearing on Melissa Ohnoutka's Eat Read Rate. This is an artic...

Blog Tour Details, A Thank You, & Movies...

Happy Monday All (the time stamp might read Sunday, but this is actually for Monday), First of all, I got to say, thank you to everyone who commented on the Four Foxes One Hound Blog post and the Soul Mate Publishing Blog Post.  I read some of the kindest, sweetest, comments from you all and I'm truly touched, humbled, flattered, and feeling honored and privileged to have such things said about me. I will visit Eat Read Rate , as guest blogger for Melissa Ohnoutka. Join me as I go into depth about my writing journey. What books did I read growing up? Why didn't I pursue a writing career when I was younger (beyond not feeling qualified)? What happened when I pitched All's Fair In Love & Lion to my editor from Soul Mate Publishing? What's the deeper story behind how AFIL&L came to be? (more in-depth than the int...
