Sometimes You Have To Kiss Frogs...

Happy Tuesday All, This once a week blogging seems to be working for me so far. Whether or not I stick to Tuesdays remains to be seen. I might choose to jump around. But for now, it works. For Christmas I received Book 8 of the Enchanted, Inc. series by Shanna Swendson . I've loved this series since I stumbled upon it one day some years ago, and waited and waited for Book 5, and then waited a little while for Books 6 and 7. I thought she had left the series behind after Book 7, but was happily surprised when she announced that in December 2016 there would be another one. I received this new one for Christmas and wanted to write a blog book review to tell you all about it. Katie Chandler and Owen Palmer are back! Freshly engaged, and glowing with that "I'm-in-love-and-narrowly-lost-my-soulmate-due-to-crazy-elves" glow, but unfortunately, their happiness isn't meant to last. Once more evil magic is in the air. People are disappearing and Katie is determined...

Dreams, Fae, & Book Review...

Happy Thursday All, I'm overdue for posting this, but I plead life and other things as the reason this hasn't gone up. I don't have an assistant, so I probably need to start keeping a log of To Do list for this blog. (Hey there's a New Year's Resolution right there!) Anyway, I do want to introduce to you all a novel by author Larynn Ford . Since this is a promised review, it's an official blog book review. Lynzi Lancaster didn't figure herself for a target until several life threatening incidents happen...all in one week. Who would want to hurt her? Then there's the dreams. Layne Brady has been long gone out of her life for twenty years. Now all of a sudden she can't get him out of her mind or her dreams. Magic and reality clash as Lynzi works to make sense out of what's happening to her and Layne struggles to prove that he is very much alive, and still loves her deeply. If you like a twist on contemporary/western with a hint of the F...

Authors Being "Oncers"...

Happy Monday Everybody! Hello! For those of you who don't know me, I'm author Bethany Averie. I'm also owner of this blog, and author of 4 published novels. I’m so excited about today’s blog post. I’m doing something I’ve never done; although, I have talked about my love of the TV show, Once Upon A Time , I've never  invited other authors who are fans to weigh in on what they love about the show. Well, all that changes today! Today you'll get to hear what myself, and other authors have to say about the show. Maybe they're authors you've heard of, maybe not. Perhaps there's a book they've written that intrigues you. You get the chance not only to find out more about Once Upon A Time (if you're a fan either agree or disagree with what we say) and maybe pick up new favorite author. Once Upon A Time airs on ABC at 7 p.m. Central / 8 p.m. Eastern on Sunday nights. Sunday (November 30th) episode was really good. A show is really a hit w...

Upcoming Event, News, & More...

Happy Monday All, Mark your calendars those of you who will be in Houston on Saturday June 21, 2014, because I will be joining fellow author, Dana Wright , and some others for an event at a Barnes & Noble. You can read about the details here . I plan to bring All's Fair In Love & Lion  bookmarks, so if you want a signed bookmark, and to meet me and some other authors--ask questions and such, come on out. (I don't know about Immortal Dreams Trilogy bookmarks, that's something I'm working on some details, so I can't be sure if I will or not). Saturday I went to my chapter's monthly meeting. Author Will Graham talked about Jack the Ripper. He really did a great job. For anyone who doesn't know, Will is a very talented author, and I've been lucky enough to be able to chat with him about writing, publishing, and different things like that. He's been supportive of my career over the years. I'm very grateful for it. My critique pa...

A Bit Of This And That...

Happy Wednesday All, It's late in the afternoon when I'm writing this, but oh well. I've gotten the mock up cover art for Book Two of my Immortal Dreams Trilogy and love it. It's not totally finalized (I asked about something so I'm waiting to hear back on that) but I'm happy with the direction and everything. I don't know when I'll do a cover reveal for Book Two since it's not scheduled to come out until Fall of 2014.  Fountain in Frankenmuth, Michigan We have been soggy in my neck of the woods. Rain for almost 3 days straight. Monday poured, Tuesday poured and rained on and off, and then early morning today it was raining hard. There was quite a lot of thunder and lightning, but at least it wasn't like Tuesday morning when we thought we were going to be dealing with a tornado (the wind sounded a lot like it was trying to form one, thank goodness it didn't happen--I certainly said a prayer of thanks to God on that one!) Now no rain,...

Updates, Upcoming Releases, Etc...

Happy Monday All, Here's hoping everybody had a great weekend! Mine was all right. There are just HOURS left in the giveaway I donated a Kindle copy of All's Fair In Love & Lion to. For details check out author Patti Korbet's blog .   For those of you who didn't hear:  Last week I turned Immortal Dreams Book 2: Astral Love in to my publisher.  It's exciting, nerve-wrecking, and a relief to have another novel finished. I'm working on another novel and got some ideas for others, too.  Next month I'll have an official blog book review for another author (not going to say who the author is or what the book is, but it's coming!) I enjoyed this one very much that I'll be reviewing. I'm looking forward to the upcoming release of Kerrelyn Sparks' How To Seduce A Vampire (Without Really Trying) .  I pre-ordered a paperback copy of that one. It releases tomorrow (April 29, 2014). If you all didn't hear the marvelous news fr...

Kickin' Off Classics Week With Guest Patti Korbet...

Happy Monday Everybody, Welcome to the first ever Classics Week on Write By Bethany. Each day I will feature a different author. The author for the day will talk about which classic author and book they enjoyed and why, plus whether or not it influenced them. At the end of the post, they will feature one of their own publications for your reading pleasure. To kick off Classics Week, I've got author Patti Korbet . I met Patti through author Marie Hall's Facebook page. As it turns out, we're both avid Once Upon A Time fans (as well as fans of Marie Hall's work) and started chatting. She's got some interesting things to say about JRR Tolkein, so I'll hush up and let Patti take over... My childhood memories are filled with moments of fantasy and science fiction, from the cartoons that started our Saturday mornings to the films we saw in the movie theater. Many of those stories were classics of childhood for kids of the 70's and 80's –   E.T., ...

It's Always Hotter When You're In Texas...

Happy Thursday All, Today is the one-year death anniversary of my friend, Sarah.   However, given that she  was also a fan of Christie Craig, I can't think of a better day to post a book review of one of Christie's novels. So I dedicate this review to Sarah. I think she would've liked this novel. Christie Craig ’s Hotter In Texas series kicked off with Dallas’s book, Only In Texas , continued with Tyler’s Blame It On Texas , and it finishes with a bang with Austin’s Texas Hold ‘Em . Austin is a man on a mission.  He and his buddies, Dallas and Tyler of the Only In Texas P.I. firm were framed for a crime they never committed. Swearing vengeance on the evil-doer, Rafael DeLuna, the trio vowed to bring the criminal to justice. In order to do that they need info on DeLuna’s whereabouts. Roberto—a man with his own agenda—has been their informant, but Austin is concerned. He’s not sure whether or not the can trust Roberto. So... Austin h...

Weekend, Fun Books, New Releases, & Such...

Happy Tuesday All, I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend, and found something fun to do. My husband, parents, and I went to an Italian restaurant to hear author, Raymond Benson , play the piano. Not only is the man a multi-published author, but he's a very accomplished pianist. We had a great time hearing him play, and I got to visit with him, his wife, and a few of my chapter mates afterwards. My family and I also had a nice dinner at the restaurant. I got to introduce my chapter mates to my family, which was fun, too. Next week is super-duper busy for me, so I'll probably won't be posting any blog posts. I'm working on revisions for my YA novel, and working on the companion/sequel for All's Fair In Love & Lion , on top of everything else going on. I expect the 2nd round of edits for AFIL&L soon, too. (After all, July 10th is getting closer!) While I'm busy with all these many things, here's some books to keep you happily o...
