It's January And A New Year--2025...

Happy Monday, January, and New Year! Whew. 2025 has already been eventful! In my family, that meant husband and eldest with sinus infections during the second week of the month (which actually was the first full week of January). Me and youngest had sinus infections in December. And then the news of the fires in California, which is so sad. I've been praying for all in the path and dealing with the fires, etc. Hopefully firefighters are able to contain/put them out soon. The first few days of 2025 weren't too bad, but then things got a little crazy. I'm hoping the rest of the month is calmer, healthier, and happier. Writer's Life Updates: I still have some queries out on Sugar & Frost that are awaiting answers. In the interim, I'm working on some other stories (every author has files with unfinished manuscripts and I'm definitely no different in that respect!) Christmas and New Year's: My Christmas was fairly quiet since I was getting over a sinus ...

January 2024 Is Here...

Happy January, 2024, and Friday! If December snuck up on me, January just blew right in without me being ready to be done with December. Christmas cards got mailed Wednesday (as in January 3, 2024!) Yeah, I was that behind. But I think my close friends and my family members are a forgiving bunch and won't mind getting their Christmas cards a little late. My Christmas was fairly nice. I had a sparkly red dress this year (see my Instagram for a photo). I love sparkles. I don't always wear them, but I do like them. I did refrain from purchasing glittery eyeshadow for Mass (Catholic Christian Church Service). A little sparkle at Mass is okay, but I don't need to be attention-grabbing there. Later in the week we ate Christmas dinner at my sister's house (no, not on Christmas Day because we were waiting for one my brothers and his family to arrive in town and they couldn't get in any earlier because of their responsibilities at home). The weekend of New Year's my el...

December, Celebrations, & Where Has The Year Gone?...

Happy December, Well, it's already almost the last day of December...and the whole month totally snuck up on me and slipped by me without me realizing what was going on until Christmas Weekend! I kept thinking "Oh, I've got time to do..." and whatever. HA! Next time, I'm going to REALLY look at my calendar and go "Wait, NO, I DON'T have all this time!" Exhibit A: I need to finish putting together (and mail) Christmas cards. Yep. I'm late, I know, but hopefully I'll get them out during the 12 days of Christmas (before the celebration of Jesus' Baptism, which is celebrated the Sunday after Epiphany. Catholics don't do celebrations halfway! Case in point: Easter has many, many days in the Easter Season). Exhibit B: I was wrapping presents on Christmas Eve. I'm usually done days before then. So all of you out there who were behind this year...I get it! Things happen. Life can be nuts. This whole year felt fast, though. I know I kept...

2022, A New Year...

Happy January and Happy New Year 2022 one and all! There have been many times that I've said this, and I expect many times to say it again: my observation is that every year brings both good and bad. Some years there's more good, some more bad, some in the middle. I don't know what 2022 will be, but I continue to look for blessings. One of the blessings of 2021, was in spite of Snowmeggeddon (or, rather, because of it) back in February, I got a new kitchen. Now, a storm with broken pipes is not the way I'd PREFER to have gotten this kitchen, but I love it. So, even though the storm sucked and being out of my house for 4 1/2 months wasn't always easy, I got this brand new kitchen that is so much more me and my family than what we moved into when we first got the house. In August, I got a non-displaced fracture in my shoulder. Yeah, I hadn't known silly detergent had spilled and I wasn't looking to perfect my detergent-skating abilities (or, in this case, in...

Welcome To 2020...

Happy Monday & 2020 To Everyone! When I was in high school, I couldn't even fathom 2000, much less 2020. It didn't matter how close or far any of those years were, I just found it astounding. It's another year to grow, learn, and experience life. Speaking from my experience, every year has good and bad. Some years you enjoy the good more, and other years, you've got to push through more of the bad. In any case, I like to experience each year whether it is mostly good or not. This year, I want to finish books 5 and 6 in the Immortal Dreams series. I'm pretty much ready to wrap up the Immortals, at least, for now. I've got some other ideas flashing here and there, so it would be good to see where else my imagination takes me. Now, that doesn't mean I'm not going to pay attention to those last 2 books and try to do the series justice--I am, and I will. The series is important to me, and I want to do it justice. Just hang on a bit while I work out...

It's 2017!

Happy Tuesday Everyone, The last time I posted was in November. That's pretty bad, but getting to post a blog is tough. Blog posts take a lot of time because I have to think of a topic, write it up, edit it, add graphics/pictures, and make sure any relevant links are set up. I'm thinking that I will go to once a week or once every other week for blog posts. Also, apparently there are some kind of European laws and Blogger is posting Cookie notices, but I don't know where they are and I don't know if they're showing up, so if they are, please let me know where to look because the directions weren't clear. Christmas in the Averie Household was eventful. On Christmas Eve we went to Mass and the Averie Offspring was rather rambunctious much to me and Mr. Averie's chagrin. I'm chalking it up to the excitement of the season, but despite the goofiness on the part of my offspring, it was a lovely service and we sang one of my favorite Christmas hymns ( Jo...

It's 2016!

Happy Monday All, It's a brand new year! In some ways, it seems like it's taken a long time to get to 2016, in others, it seems like it's moved fast. Whether fast or slow, it's here. A lot of people like to reflect on the year that's past. For me, it was a whirlwind of change. My family grew, bringing new challenges--both good things and rough. I'm pretty sleep deprived these days as a result (I know sleep is possible...just not yet). I'm starting out the year with having published 4 novels and working on another and a few new ideas. I haven't completely left the Immortals from Immortal Dreams Trilogy behind. They're still there (and Jason and Laney often make appearances on the Immortal Dreams Facebook page ). But I'm not actively working on anything, yet. However, ideas are there.    I'm pursuing new possibilities. It's both exciting and nerve-wrecking. I keep asking myself, "What's the next best move for me? Wha...

2013 New Year's Wishes

Holiday Season Wishes 2012

So, How's Your First Week Of New Year?

Happy Friday Everyone, Well the first work week of 2012 is coming to a close. I hope everyone has had a good week so far! Mine has been fun. I'm feeling a lot better, too. I'm working on figuring out the WIPs (Works In Progress) and catching up on my reading. I've got 2 books I'm reading at once and they're both good. I'll probably talk about them next week. Generally I don't make New Year's Resolutions, however, a new year feels like a chance to improve oneself and reach out to those goals we keep setting. There's a sense of hope hanging in the air and I figure why not grab that hope, and hold on? I think I'll make it a part of what I resolve for the new year. To believe in achieving my goals. What about you? What are your hopes for 2012? Have A Fabulous Friday!

Happy New Year: 2012!

Happy New Year & Happy Monday Everyone! Hope everyone has a safe, wonderful, and blessed new year! 2012 has started off pretty well for me so far. I'm feeling much better (thank you to everyone for the well wishes and support). I finished reading a couple of books that I plan on talking about on here this week. As I'm entering the 3rd year of working on this blog, I'd like your feedback. Not counting giveaways (because I think we all look forward to those), what posts on here do you like the best?  Please let me know in the comment section of this post. Have A Marvelous Monday!

Happy New Year!

Happy Friday All, My counter in the margins says it's 12 hours and less than 30 minutes until the new year. Wow, hard to believe 2011 is already just hours away. It seems like once I hit adulthood time started going faster, when in reality it was the same amount of time, just felt differently. I can remember approaching the 2000 finding it totally mind blowing that we were entering the 21st century. Now I'm sitting her going "I never even contemplated 2011." (Anyone else feel this way?) I hope all of you have a blessed, safe, and wonderful New Year's. Every year has brought different good  (and sometimes not-so-good) things. Here's to finding out what 2011 brings (hopefully more good than bad). What's your plans for the new year? Happy New Year one and all :-) Have A Fantastic Friday!

Approaching The New Year

Morning All! Thank you so much for the "feel better soon" wishes. I appreciated them, and thank you, I am doing better today. :-) Hopefully my dad is, too. My house needs dusting. How do I know this? I've sneezed about 5 times this morning and I can feel my eyes welling up with that "teary-allergy feeling". Oh well. Just one more resolution, uh, I mean goal, for the new year. (For seeing what I mean by "goal" as opposed to "resolution" check out Marsha's blog post). Yesterday, despite everything, I reviewed an unfinished story I haven't looked at in awhile. It's not too bad, it just needs some tweaking and finishing. Ideas are going along for a story of mine, but I have to figure out if they fit with the story (the way it currently is) first. But at least I'm making some progress. I did some editing on the prologue to Surreal . I hope to get through chapter 1 and so on before too long. I feel like I've spent so much tim...
