Happy Thursday All,
Wow! It feels like an eternity since I updated my blog. I have been super-busy with family obligations (in fact, still am...motherhood is a demanding job, as many of you know). But I am getting back into writing and working on getting back into everything else. It's happening veeerrrryyyyy sllllloooowwwwllly...but it's HAPPENING! Yay. :-)
I'm having issues with my regular browser, so I'm using an interim one until I can sit down with my awesome IT guy, Jeff (if you're interested in consulting with him, email me, and I'll check his availability. He's been a big help to me).
To keep up with me, watch Twitter and Facebook mostly. I update Facebook often, and try to get to Twitter at least once a day. (The interim browser I'm using is slow, so I'll just provide a link to my website, which I think has links to my Twitter and Facebook pages).
So what's going on in my world aside from motherhood? I'm working on the first book in what I hope will be a new series. I've been working on this novel for some time, now, and well...it seems to be trying to come together. I'll be using my regular beta reader--she's going to give me an initial input on what I've got so far (always nice to get her input at the beginning to see if there's a plot hole before I write myself into a corner).
The NWHRWA Lone Star Conference is just around the corner! (Saturday, October 3, 2015). And guess what, darling readers? I'm going! Yes, I am. This year, Margie Lawson is the keynote speaker. There are 2-3 editors coming out to hear pitches as well as a literary agent. So it's exciting. I can't wait to see my writing pals again. I haven't made it to a NWHRWA meeting since the Christmas party last year. Real life has been that demanding. Fortunately writers and other professionals I work with have been very understanding, which has made being on hiatus easier.
I miss regularly writing and updating this blog. I even miss editing. Absence--even being away for a very GOOD reason--does make the heart grow fonder, at least as far as I'm concerned.

Hiatus & Life...
Happy Friday All,
If I don't update this very much or for several months there are several reasons for that. One of them is edits and getting ready for the release of Immortal Dreams Book Three: Immortal Love. The other is preparation and eventual arrival of Baby Averie.

Kylie's Story Comes To An End...
Happy Monday All,
Yes, I know the time-stamp on my blog post says Sunday, but this is actually meant to be Monday's post, I'm just posting it a little early. Part of the reason being because I actually have a moment and the other part being that this weekend has been rather rough. Offspring got sick with I don't-know-what, and so Husband and I were dealing with that all weekend. Once again, the Husband proved why I call him my real life hero (he was quite heroic, on more than one occasion, and trust me, I got all mushy talking to a friend of mine about it).
But setting that unpleasantness aside...
Author C.C. Hunter returns with the final installment of Kylie Galen's story is jammed packed with the return of ghosts, Mario--the evil vampire, and all our friends from Shadow Falls.
Kylie thought going to her species' hideout would mean feeling less of an outsider, but even worse than camp, the other chameleons regard her with fear and suspicion. Most of her kind have lived their lives in complete terror of being found out. So much so, that contact with the outside world is nearly unheard of. Teens who try to escape the compound find it almost impossible.
When Burnett appears after Mario and his gang are thought to be around, Kylie decides it's time to return home to Shadow Falls Camp.
However, if she hoped for an easy solution, Kylie is sadly mistaken.
A mysterious sword, even more frightening ghosts, and secrets await Kylie. How will she survive and can she? Kylie knows love is worth risking it all, but in the end, who does she really love, and who is she risking it all for?

A Mini Update & A Double-Treat...
Happy Thursday All,
Let me first apologize for having posts so few and far between. I'm working on the final proofs of the edits my publisher sent me, I've had some other stuff come up in my real life I had to deal with, and I've been reading, reading, reading.
Recently I finished two novellas. They're both YA, but they couldn't be more different from each other.
I'll start with the one that was out first (and that I read first):
Katie McGarry, who wrote the gritty, contemporary YA, Pushing The Limits has returned with another hit out-of-the-park with her follow-up novella, Crossing The Line. Lila, Echo's best friend, is the heroine of this short-story. One of the things I loved about this novel was that Lila and Lincoln get to know each other through letter writing (snail-mail style). Lila is facing the very first time being left alone at home overnight. As a high school graduate, she looks at it as an opportunity to get ready to go away to college. However, the noises she's hearing at night, and the fact she's certain she saw someone hanging around her house have her doubting whether or not she's brave enough to face the big world on her own. Her one consolation is that Lincoln is going to join her in Florida to attend college, as well. However, Lincoln's mess of a home life, and a secret he hasn't shared with Lila, might just put a wrench in their plans. Will Lila forgive him, or will this whole test Lila's put herself through be for nothing? Crossing The Line is a precursor to the upcoming release of Katie's newest novel, Dare You To, due out May 28, 2013. (Crossing The Line is only available in E-book form. You can get it on Amazon Kindle or on Barnes & Noble Nook).
In anticipation of the final installment of the fabulously talented C.C. Hunter's Shadowfalls Series, we get a glimpse into the next
Shadowfalls heroine, Della, Kylie's best friend. Della is a no-nonsense, I-can-take-care-of-myself, sassy vampire. However, when sent on a special mission for FRU agent, Burnett, Della realizes that in spite of the pain and disappointment in her life, her heart still craves a closeness that sexy shape-shifter, Steve is willing to give. Not only that, but he's also willing to stand by her, save her life, and help her "save face" all while being one heck of a charmer. Yet, is it enough? Can Della let her guard down at all? As a fantastic lead-in to Chosen At Nightfall (due out April 23, 2013), and the subsequently anticipated stories about Della, fans of Shadowfalls series will not want to miss out on Saved A Sunrise. I truly enjoyed it. Della's a great character and I look forward to seeing what C.C. comes up with for her stories. (Saved At Sunrise is also only available in E-book form--Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook).
So, if you're looking for something to read, either one of these novels would be great fun. I'm reading another novella now. I'm planning on 2 other book reviews (one was an unexpected ARC on a June release, the other is one that I'll post closer to the release date this month).

She Wants Sweet Revenge
Happy Monday/Tuesday All,
I am SO embarrassed. In all the busyness that followed my friend's death, I forgot I had an official blog review. Fortunately I remembered in time for the release date (which is Tuesday, March 5, 2013--depending on when you're reading this is either today or tomorrow).
Mystery author extraordinaire, Laura Childs is at it again, this time with a brand-new addition to her Tea Shop Mystery series...
If Theodosia Browning owner of the Indigo Tea Shop didn't have her hands full before, she does, now. As boutique owner, Delaine Dish's, maid-of-honor, she's responsible for anything and everything Delaine will come up with. Including keeping the bride-to-be calm.
However, as a storm of epic proportions brews in Charleston, and the power goes out, it looks like this wedding day will have more showers than sunshine....
Especially since nobody can find the groom.
Theodosia, being the dutiful maid of honor, goes down the hall to knock on Dougan Granville's door.
When Granville doesn't answer, she walks in to tell him it's show time...only to find the groom dead.
The discovery throws Theodosia into a tailspin of shock, whodunit, and investigating contraband.
Between all this, and Delaine declaring she wants "Sweet revenge" Theodosia has her hands full.
It's all tempest in a pot of tea, with Theodosia jugging her amateur detective status, tracking down the contraband, and helping Delaine with the grieving process, while running her cozy tea shop...will Theodosia be able to do it all before things slosh over the sides and get messy?

How Mysterious!
Happy Monday Everybody,
Wow, it's been a long time since I've had an official blog review to do on a novel, but when I'm asked specifically by an author (or I beg them--Okay I ask very politely and they generously agree) I generally get an ARC (Advanced Readers' Copy) of their novel so that I can read it and review it before it comes out. And TA-DA! That happened, so you, my darling readers, get to hear about it before this even hits the sale shelves...
The newest addition to Laura Childs' Scrapbooking Mystery series is just about to hit stores and you better be ready for one wild ride. (And when doesn't Carmela and Ava NOT take you on a wild ride? After all, they do live and work in New Orleans, dahling!)
In Skeleton Letters we find Carmela and Ava witnesses of their friend, Byrle's death.
While taking care of some volunteer business of Ava's at St. Tristan's Church, Carmela and Ava have the horrifying experience of witnessing a murder. Unfortunately, they didn't exactly see how everything went down, and nor did they get a good look at the murderer. After all, what can you see when a person is swathed in a brown cloak?
A quick call to Carmela's boyfriend (and definite hero material) Dectective Babock sets Carmela smack into the middle of a murder investigation.
Worse still, Baby, Carmela's friend and regular customer at Carmela's scrapbooking shop, Memory Mine, begs Carmela to "look into things". Which, is expressly against Babcock's edict that Carmela keep herself out of the investigation, period the end.
Does she listen? Of course not! How can she when Baby specifically asked her and Byrle was her friend? So, with the help of another friend, and fellow witness, the very exuberant Ava, Carmela launches her own investigations...
Only to be nearly pushed off the road by a car following her...
and come across another dead body...
and stalked by some psycho leaving her a message in blood!
Who could be behind these heinous acts and why can't Carmela and the police pinpoint a good suspect?

Git Yer Cowboy Hat & Laugh Out Loud With The New Christie Craig Novel
Happy Monday Everybody,

Friday afternoon I finished reading Christie Craig’s new book, Don’t Mess With Texas, which is available on August 23, 2011.
This is laugh out loud humorous fun! A heroine who pukes on the hero, a no-nonsense Nana (loved her! Nana needs her own story, she's just that funny), a strong defend-and-protect type hero--mix it all together and you've got a novel jammed pack with Christie’s humor, romance, mystery, suspense and everything else she could think of including an English Bulldog sleeping in a coffin.
Ex-cop turned P.I. Dallas O’Connor and his buddies got a bum deal when they were framed for a crime they didn’t do. Now out of jail and setting up their P.I. firm they’re ready to kick some serious butt and make sure those who are falsely accused get a fair shake in this system.
They’re gonna make sure a 19 year old boy doesn’t get locked up for a murder he didn’t do and while they’re at it make sure the people who framed them pay.
Well, he was, that is, until Artist Nikki Hunt pukes on him when he comes to investigate a crime scene with his brother, Tony (who is still a cop).
Right from the start Dallas is taken by Nikki--and it’s not just because of her vomiting skills (which are impressive) but there’s something special about Nikki. She's bright, funny, independent and he's fascinated by her.
But he can’t--won’t--get involved. She’s the prime suspect in Jack Leon’s murder. Jack is Nikki’s ex-husband--emphasis on the ex. Jack had Nikki come meet him for dinner…and stuck her with the bill.
Two people heard Nikki say she was going to kill him, but what they don’t get is that Nikki didn’t mean literally--she was talking to herself…a habit she’s never been able to break.
Can Dallas deny the fireworks between him and Nikki? Can Nikki overcome her fears of being left in the dust with a broken heart (long enough to see Dallas isn't like Jack)?
One thing’s for sure, the attraction’s undeniable, and the temperature isn’t the only thing that’s hot in Texas!
And yes, I really enjoyed this book. It was funny, fun, and classic Christie Craig Laugh-Out-Loud-And-Enjoy novel.

Come On Fall/Winter Months & Weather!

Fun little tidbit just because...
One of my sisters got me into this: If you like to have cream in your coffee, substitute with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. YUM. (I generally have creamer, but if I'm having decaf after dinner I sometimes go ahead and have a scoop of vanilla ice cream).
Anyway...
Are you as excited about the Fall and Winter months as I am? I know, I know...I keep talking about it. I can't help it. It's been such a hot summer that I can't wait to pull out my sweaters and pants. My cloak (or cape, whatever you choose to call it) is waiting in our hall closet for the weather to get cold. My sweaters and long-sleeved shirts are sitting in the back of my closet just waiting for me.
Plus there are so many releases happening in the Fall! C.C. Hunter's Awake At Dawn, Rick Riordan's The Son Of Neptune, Kerrelyn Sparks' Sexiest Vampire Alive...(and I'm sure several other releases that I'm gonna kick myself later for not remembering to mention!)
And of course there's the events...

Books and A Big Comfy Chair
Happy Thursday Everyone,
There's a few releases that I've seemed to have missed, plus a contest (these are all novels that are now available):
Jane Carver is making her mark with a new novel, Moonlust & Majick is available on Amazon Paperback. It's also available from Barnes & Noble in Paperback. Very pretty cover, that one!Yesterday Suzan Harden, author of Blood Magick (available at Amazon and at Barnes & Noble), posted she's having a contest on her blog (it ends June 7, 2011). Check out Wild, Wicked & Wacky (Suzan's blog) for further information.
Teri Thackston put out a new novel--a Western Romance. The Abduction Of Miss Jenny Chandler is available at her publisher, Ellora's Cave website. It's also available in paperback from Barnes & Noble (you can also get it on Nook on that link). It's also available at Amazon in Paperback and on Amazon Kindle. (She doesn't just write Westerns, she has written in other genres, too).
I'm still reading Georgette Heyer's Lady Of Quality. It's a fun book, and I could see it as an enjoyable movie, but I feel that way about a lot of Heyer novels. So, what's the perfect compliment to the perfect book? A big comfy chair/couch? A cup of tea, perhaps hot chocolate? Or a mug of coffee?
Better yet, since it's Summer, a glass of iced tea or lemonade?
As for me...when it's cold, I like hot tea or hot chocolate, in the summer, depends on what I'm in the mood for. For a sweet treat...a good piece of chocolate (if I'm lucky, it's a Godiva Truffle) is often a yummy compliment to any book I'm reading.
Anyway, so tell me what compliments a good book?

Hot Summer Cool Fall Releases

It's June! Which means, it's Summer time. School's out. There's heat, humidity, vacations...and there some Summer-y type feeling novels being released and some Summer releases coming out:
Jennifer Bray-Weber Blood And Treasure (a romance novel with pirates. Being out on the ocean--what's more summery than that?) (This one is already out).
Christie Craig's Don't Mess With Texas (August 2011) If any place knows summertime weather, it's definitely Texas (as a Texan I can speak from experience). (You can actually find this one on Amazon and Barnes & Noble websites already).
Lesley Livingston has a new novel coming out July 2011, Once Every Never (I haven't even seen this on Amazon or Barnes & Noble websites, yet).
Of course this isn't to say that Summer is the only time for exciting new releases. Fall will be on the heels of Summer and bring with it...
Kerrelyn Sparks will be revealing Gregori's story in Sexiest Vampire Alive coming September 27, 2011. (Squeal! I'm very excited about this one).

Rick Riordan will be bringing out the sequel to his Heroes Of Olympus series (sequel series to the Percy Jackson & The Olympians series). Come October 4, 2011 Percy will be back...in The Son Of Neptune (but wait, you thought it was Poseidon...well, we're dealing with the Roman side of the Olympians now...and they are more violent and aggressive than their Greek side). You can get a sneak peek here (the first chapter). He's got an Egyptian series out (the first 2 books have been released). I haven't finished reading the first one, but I can tell you what I did read was very exciting and engrossing.
And I can hardly wait for C.C. Hunter's next ShadowFalls book, Awake At Dawn, to come out in October 2011.

It's lots of fun for young and not-quite-so-young-but-young-at-heart. C.C. Hunter has some fantastic news for you all. Born At Midnight is doing very well, and in October she'll release her next book in the series, Awake At Dawn. I got my days mixed up. This week has been nutty for me, so for some reason I thought next week was the 27th (even though yesterday was the 26th, I kept thinking for some reason I was posting this on the last day of the month). Anyway, I feel horrible I didn't have this up earlier...but at least I'm getting it up now.
Today is a special Author Interview Day. I'm going to call it "Mutual Admiration Day" because of this: I've got Tess's interview on here today, and today she's got a guest blog post on her HER blog that I did! Me: You write in Historical Romance, Romantic Suspense and Romantic Mystery genres. Do you have a favorite out of those that you enjoy writing the most?
Tess: I think it depends on when you ask me! If I'm working on a historical, all I think about is how much I enjoy that. Then when I'm writing the contemporary romantic suspense/mystery I absolutely love that. So today, I love historicals!
Me: Authors pull from all sorts of places for inspiration. Do you have a particular source of inspiration, or is it anything and everything?
Tess: Since I see scenes when I write, I'm not sure where the inspiration comes from. I think it's just my blessed life, to be honest.
Me: For Fun: What's your favorite color?
Tess: Red.
Me: What advice do you have for aspiring authors?
Tess: Write. Write. Write. Then write some more. I believe classes are wonderful and critiquing others' work is educational, but unless you write, you'll never be a writer. And read everything you can get your hands on.
Me: For Fun: Do you have a favorite book hero, and if so, who is he? (I know your husband's your favorite, but aside from him...someone from a book you read).
Tess: I have so many! But if a gun was pointed at my head, I would have to say Cam Rohan from Lisa Kleypas' book "Mine Till Midnight".
Me: What books are on the horizon for you to put out this year (and their genres)?
Tess: I released "Emma's Chance" (a short story) and "Second Chances" (book one of my Chances Are Series), in April, those are historicals. I also hope to release "Don't Let It Show" and "Eyes of Jade" (books one and two of my Undercover Intrigue series) this summer (note: Tess doesn't have an exact date for those releases, yet). Then before the end of the year I hope to have "Angel Eyes", "Eyes of a Stranger", and "Lyin' Eyes" (the rest of the Undercover Intrigue Series) out by the end of the year (if my health cooperates).
Me: Where will your books be available?
Tess: Amazon, B&N, and Smashwords.
Me: When you're not writing what's something you enjoy doing?
Tess: Spending time with my family, playing pool, reading, cross-stitching.

Tess: "Second Chances" --Love that frees a heart - also captures it. I've read the first 3 chapters of this novel (as one of her critique partners) and I'm chomping at the bit to read the rest of it. Unforunately, Eyes Of Jade won't be available until later this summer. Edit at 11:16 a.m. Central Time (Eyes Of Jade blurb!): Sick of acting, Hollywood film and TV star Eve Knight plans to start life over in Houston, Texas. But before she can announce her retirement, repeated attempts are made on her life—in ways mirroring deadly scenes from her action movies. FBI agent Jacob Dane swore off love after his engagement ended in tragedy. He’s been assigned to Eve’s case because of the bizarre attempts on her life. Hiding her away from the world brings the two of them close. Very close. Agreeing to bait a trap for the would-be murderer, Eve puts on the performance of her life while Jake realizes if he fails to keep her safe—he’ll lose his heart. Again.

Reopening On Monday
Hello Everyone,
Due to Holy Week, the Easter Festivities, and family obligations, I'm going to take a mini vacation from posting. I'm returning on Monday (I'm not going anywhere, just not going to be posting any new posts until Monday).

Second Chances tells the story of Emma Easton, a not-yet-21 year old wife/care giver to the much older Harmon Easton, who is on his deathbed. When Harmon dies Emma fears her father will come and claim her...after all the estate wasn't left to Emma, but to Harmon's children and Emma is underage. By Regency rules, Emma is back under the guardianship (and control) of her father who has no love for her and until she is twenty-one she's at his mercy.
