2014 Novels, & Christmassy Reading...

Happy Friday All, This week has been filled with appointments pretty much every day so I've been kept on my toes. With Christmas on its way and the end of the year coming, I thought I'd give a look at some of my favorite novels that were released in 2014 (besides my own, of course LOL). In no particular order, here are some of my favorite novels published in 2014: YA Category: CC Hunter's Eternal   This is book number 2 in C.C.'s Shadow Falls After Dark series, featuring vampire Della Tsang. I love how underneath all her prickles and walls, Della feels deeply and is an incredibly loyal person. She's strong, sassy, but also vulnerable. I recommend reading C.C.'s Shadow Falls series, first, before reading Della's stories because these books happen after the events in the first novels. Of course, I recommend reading any of C.C.'s novels! She's an incredibly talented author. To check out my official blog book review of this novel, click h...

Authors Being "Oncers"...

Happy Monday Everybody! Hello! For those of you who don't know me, I'm author Bethany Averie. I'm also owner of this blog, and author of 4 published novels. I’m so excited about today’s blog post. I’m doing something I’ve never done; although, I have talked about my love of the TV show, Once Upon A Time , I've never  invited other authors who are fans to weigh in on what they love about the show. Well, all that changes today! Today you'll get to hear what myself, and other authors have to say about the show. Maybe they're authors you've heard of, maybe not. Perhaps there's a book they've written that intrigues you. You get the chance not only to find out more about Once Upon A Time (if you're a fan either agree or disagree with what we say) and maybe pick up new favorite author. Once Upon A Time airs on ABC at 7 p.m. Central / 8 p.m. Eastern on Sunday nights. Sunday (November 30th) episode was really good. A show is really a hit w...

Guest Post & Book Sale With Joanne Guidoccio...

Happy Monday All, Hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was pretty good. I've been working on getting Book Three in my Immortal Dreams Trilogy written. So while I'm working on that and you my darling readers are awaiting the release of Book Two, Astral Love , how about another kind of story while you wait? Today I've got author Joanne Guidoccio with me and she's here to talk about her novel, Between Land And Sea , which is on sale for 99 cents on Amazon Kindle (Links can be found at the end of the blog post). So I'm going to let Joanne tell you about writing her novel and a little bit about the novel itself... While planning Between Land and Sea , I considered different fantasy elements. What advantage could I bestow upon a beautiful mermaid who had given up her tail and lost her mermaid powers? A magic wand came to mind, but I quickly dismissed a possibility often associated with fairy godmothers and benevolent elders. In this case, there was...

Blog Swap With Author Larynn Ford...

Happy Monday All, How was everyone's 4th of July? Mine was interesting. It rained here, but it let up enough that there were fireworks around. I turned on PBS and watched a little of the Capitol Hill celebration. Today it's my pleasure to introduce to you all fellow Soul Mate Publishing author, Larynn Ford. Larynn was kind enough to agree to a "blog swap" with me. Over the weekend she featured me on her blog and I agreed to do the same for her (I just try not to post on the weekends--especially since I was trying to get some writing in. I did get some in--not as much as I wanted, but I got some).   Larynn Ford began reading romance in her early teens and became interested in writing in high school. She’s a daydreamer and a romantic who is intrigued by the paranormal and loves to let her mind wander ,   always searching for a happily ever after ending to her dreams. She began reading with a renewed passion in 2006, fell in love with romance all over a...

Upcoming Event, News, & More...

Happy Monday All, Mark your calendars those of you who will be in Houston on Saturday June 21, 2014, because I will be joining fellow author, Dana Wright , and some others for an event at a Barnes & Noble. You can read about the details here . I plan to bring All's Fair In Love & Lion  bookmarks, so if you want a signed bookmark, and to meet me and some other authors--ask questions and such, come on out. (I don't know about Immortal Dreams Trilogy bookmarks, that's something I'm working on some details, so I can't be sure if I will or not). Saturday I went to my chapter's monthly meeting. Author Will Graham talked about Jack the Ripper. He really did a great job. For anyone who doesn't know, Will is a very talented author, and I've been lucky enough to be able to chat with him about writing, publishing, and different things like that. He's been supportive of my career over the years. I'm very grateful for it. My critique pa...

Updates, Upcoming Releases, Etc...

Happy Monday All, Here's hoping everybody had a great weekend! Mine was all right. There are just HOURS left in the giveaway I donated a Kindle copy of All's Fair In Love & Lion to. For details check out author Patti Korbet's blog .   For those of you who didn't hear:  Last week I turned Immortal Dreams Book 2: Astral Love in to my publisher.  It's exciting, nerve-wrecking, and a relief to have another novel finished. I'm working on another novel and got some ideas for others, too.  Next month I'll have an official blog book review for another author (not going to say who the author is or what the book is, but it's coming!) I enjoyed this one very much that I'll be reviewing. I'm looking forward to the upcoming release of Kerrelyn Sparks' How To Seduce A Vampire (Without Really Trying) .  I pre-ordered a paperback copy of that one. It releases tomorrow (April 29, 2014). If you all didn't hear the marvelous news fr...

Classics Week: Last Day--"Stepping Through The Wardrobe"

Happy Friday All, Wow! It’s been such a fun week with learning more about different Classic novels, and other authors’ work. If you haven’t checked out yesterday’s post with TinaBausinger , please do. I think it’s fascinating. To close out Classics Week, you get yours truly (me) for today. There are many authors I could have chosen to talk about today, however, CS Lewis is an author I've particularly enjoyed. So I’m going to go ahead and focus on him and his Chronicles Of Narnia . You could say in some sense, Aslan from the series influenced All’s Fair In Love & Lion a bit—given Monroe , like Aslan, (when Monroe was in his lion form) could speak My Monroe Christmas ornament, given to me by one of my sisters and be understood, was majestic. In the stories, Aslan sacrifices himself, and sacrifice comes into play in my story, as well. However, the thing about Narnia that appealed to me was how each adventure was full of imagination, wonder, a...
