It's January And A New Year--2025...

Happy Monday, January, and New Year! Whew. 2025 has already been eventful! In my family, that meant husband and eldest with sinus infections during the second week of the month (which actually was the first full week of January). Me and youngest had sinus infections in December. And then the news of the fires in California, which is so sad. I've been praying for all in the path and dealing with the fires, etc. Hopefully firefighters are able to contain/put them out soon. The first few days of 2025 weren't too bad, but then things got a little crazy. I'm hoping the rest of the month is calmer, healthier, and happier. Writer's Life Updates: I still have some queries out on Sugar & Frost that are awaiting answers. In the interim, I'm working on some other stories (every author has files with unfinished manuscripts and I'm definitely no different in that respect!) Christmas and New Year's: My Christmas was fairly quiet since I was getting over a sinus ...

It's December!

Happy Wednesday & Happy December! I hope December 2021 finds all of you well. I can't believe we're already nearing the end of 2021. It feels like the year just started yesterday or something. Who participated in NaNoWriMo2021? I didn't. I don't really do NaNo, but I fully support those who do. If you did participate, I wish you a great word count! If NaNoWriMo something that works for you as an author and/or you enjoy it, then I say go for it! I know people who do Camp NaNoWriMo or other NaNo-like events and they say they actually help them with their writing. Every author is different, so you have to find a process/technique that works for you. I'm working on getting into the Christmas spirit. We're in the process of putting up the tree (have to fix something on the lights so the ornaments aren't on there, yet). I've been playing Christmas Carols and I've almost completed my Christmas shopping. My biggest concern with the cooler weather isn...

Weekend, Fun Books, New Releases, & Such...

Happy Tuesday All, I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend, and found something fun to do. My husband, parents, and I went to an Italian restaurant to hear author, Raymond Benson , play the piano. Not only is the man a multi-published author, but he's a very accomplished pianist. We had a great time hearing him play, and I got to visit with him, his wife, and a few of my chapter mates afterwards. My family and I also had a nice dinner at the restaurant. I got to introduce my chapter mates to my family, which was fun, too. Next week is super-duper busy for me, so I'll probably won't be posting any blog posts. I'm working on revisions for my YA novel, and working on the companion/sequel for All's Fair In Love & Lion , on top of everything else going on. I expect the 2nd round of edits for AFIL&L soon, too. (After all, July 10th is getting closer!) While I'm busy with all these many things, here's some books to keep you happily o...

Post Mother's Day & Updates...

Happy Tuesday All, Daffodils were my maternal grandmother's favorite flower Yes, I know the time stamp says Monday, but given that it's after 9:00 p.m. when I'm writing this, I figure I'll set it up to be Tuesday's post. Hope all the Mothers had a wonderful Mother's Day Weekend! Mine was pretty good. Spent time with two dear friends of mine. We went out for dinner and hung out. It was a lot of fun.  Sunday I went to church with my family and there was a special blessing for Mothers, so that was very nice. Me and my family saw my own mother later in the day. She's one awesome, awesome lady, so it's always great to see her! She's always been a tremendous source of comfort, encouragement, sound advice, and support. I've learned so much from my mother, so it's great to celebrate her. My husband, offspring, & myself gave her a gift that was a tie-in with All's Fair In Love & Lion (she's read one of the drafts back ...

A Valentine's Wish

Holiday Season Wishes 2012

MIA? Nah, Just BUSY!

Happy Memorial Day / Monday Everybody, Again I find myself apologizing for the silence on this blog. I really have been super busy. This past week was the last week of school for offspring, so I had that going on, as well as getting back to full speed after having a virus AND infection the week before. Now of course, you'll have to pardon more silence on my part as I prep this week for some family events I have coming up next week! I'm hoping after June 9th to be able to keep up better with the blog and every other "every day" thing I do. Life has been incredibly busy (some good ways, and some ways I could do without; i.e. virus/infection), but I have not forgotten my loyal readers! Not at all. The Lone Star Contest is coming to the deadline for entries (deadline is June 9, 2012). Please check it out and get your entry in. The prizes are really great, and an opportunity to come out to our annual conference is NOT to be missed (believe me, this is m...

Rumpelstilskin, Why?

Happy Monday All, Before I forget, Happy Belated Mother's Day to all the Moms. I hope it was great! Mine was nice--mostly relaxing. Congratulations to Tiffany, who won a copy of Beth Fantaskey's Jessica's Guide To Dating On The Dark Side last Friday! Sunday wasn't just Mother's Day, either. It was a Church day, also, of course, but, later in the evening in was the Season 1 Finale of ABC's Once Upon A Time . Yes, I watched it. Yes, I loved it, and I can't wait until the next season! I can sense this is going to go way deeper than I originally thought. Wouldn't you know? Rumpelstiltskin is causing trouble again. Not only did he create original curse, but he's also manipulated other situations. I think he suffers from a lack of confidence and self esteem--considering that before he came into his power, he wasn't looked upon very well by those in his village. However, he gave up his son, and the woman he met later (and fell in love with...

Mystery Abounds In SHADOWFALLS...

Happy Wednesday All, I apologize for all the silence. I've had a lot going on lately, and with it being Holy Week, I'm taking some time to reflect and prepare myself for the Easter celebration. For that reason, I will NOT be putting up a post on Friday since it's Good Friday. However, I have a special post for today... It’s almost here! C.C. Hunter’s release of her 3rd Shadowfalls book, Taken At Dusk , will arrive on shelves on April 10, 2012. In the meantime, here’s a glimpse into the exciting next installment of Kylie Galen’s adventures: When Awake At Dawn closed, Kylie was about to meet her grandparents. Yet, what should’ve been a happy reuinon, turns into a bigger mystery than before. Especially when they leave Shadowfalls and just go poof! If that's not enough strangeness, Kylie starts seeing weird evil-looking animals coming after her. Burnett and the others start wondering if there’s some kind of shapeshifter at work. It’s got to be Mario, but ...

Don't Forget To Wear Green!

Happy Friday All, In honor of the fact Saturday (tomorrow) is St. Patrick's Day, I thought I'd post in green colored font. When I was a kid we had a couple of Irish ladies stay with us. It was a lot of fun. There was a few years where we got to ride in the St. Patrick's Day parade with them. It was fun. There's a lot of legends centering around St. Patrick--one of the most popular is that he drove the snakes out of Ireland. Whatever St. Patrick did or did not do, I think for the most part, people agree he was a real person. Of course, tradition has it that it's a day to wear green, and celebrate all things Irish. So, I wish you all a happy St. Patrick's Day and a safe weekend. Have A Fantastical Friday!

Presidents' Day

Happy Monday All, Today is Presidents' Day! There's a few presidents who had qualities that I admire. One such man is John Adams. He wasn't just the USA's 2nd President, but he was also a founding father. He was passionate, stubborn, and had a deep devotion to his wife, Abagail. So what makes some of these figures larger than life to us? They were human beings--imperfect, prone to flaws just like the rest of us. But some of the things they did and said inspires us. So, happy Presidents' Day to everyone. Have A Marvelous Monday!

Jam Packed & Cruising Along

Happy Tuesday & November Everybody, Wow! It's November ALREADY? What happened to October? I blinked and it was gone (does this mean I need to stop blinking, because that's really hard to do). There is a lot going on lately--getting things out to those who requested them and playing around with other novel ideas (I still have to outline one that's been in my head for about a year, and I haven't been able to get it out on paper the way I'd like. The idea is good, the title is probably my best title idea yet and a lot of people like the story idea and title; it's just the execution that's lacking at the moment, but I intend to remedy that). I'm also trying to catch up on my reading, so that's been another thing. I grab anywhere between 2-10 pages here and there. I've learned I'm both a "pantser" and a "plotter"--I have to have a decent idea of what I'm doing and where I'm going, but enough room in that pla...

The Wind Blew And I Danced

Happy Tuesday All, Hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend. The weekend wasn't really a long one for me and the husband (he worked Monday and so did I, although, my work was different from his. While he went to his place of work, I was working from home on my edits). The weather is a bit cooler--not much--but definitely felt the change. Saturday night I went grocery shopping with my husband and offspring. When we came out it was windy and raining (not hard). I danced in the rain (hey if you had been through this drought we Texans have experienced, you would, too). I love cooler weather and I didn't mind the wind. It felt GREAT. (In case you haven't noticed, Fall and Winter are my favorite Seasons...I just love the cooler weather, and the Holidays--especially Christmas). Recently I found out that Bath & Body Works has its Fall scents out. I fell in love with " Orchard Leaves " (it's a spicy fall scent that makes me want to make a hot cup of tea and ...

Come On Fall/Winter Months & Weather!

Happy Tuesday Everyone, Fun little tidbit just because... One of my sisters got me into this:  If you like to have cream in your coffee, substitute with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. YUM. (I generally have creamer, but if I'm having decaf after dinner I sometimes go ahead and have a scoop of vanilla ice cream). Anyway... Are you as excited about the Fall and Winter months as I am? I know, I know...I keep talking about it. I can't help it. It's been such a hot summer that I can't wait to pull out my sweaters and pants. My cloak (or cape, whatever you choose to call it) is waiting in our hall closet for the weather to get cold. My sweaters and long-sleeved shirts are sitting in the back of my closet just waiting for me. Plus there are so many releases happening in the Fall! C.C. Hunter's Awake At Dawn , Rick Riordan's The Son Of Neptune , Kerrelyn Sparks' Sexiest Vampire Alive ...(and I'm sure several other releases that I'm gonna kick myself la...

August, Fall & Winter, New Release, And Pre-Order Galore!

Happy Monday All, Also, HAPPY AUGUST! We're now getting closer to the Fall and students going back to school and (hopefully soon) cooler weather. Texas has been hot, but it generally is in the Summer. Fall and Winter are my favorite seasons because I love cooler weather and I'm a huge fan of Christmas. I can't wait to put up Christmas lights. Okay, so I'm a little early on the anticipation, but all these  commercials  for back-to-school items have brought out thoughts of the latter (and cooler) months as well as the holidays that go with them. This past weekend I was doing some house cleaning (believe me, my house needs it). My dust allergies are acting up, but so far I've managed to avoid being laid up in bed with them, which is good. There's some book reporting I need to do, so, without further ado... Author A.S. Fenichel has an erotic Romance out through publisher Ellora's Cave called Mayan Afterglow . Good news! You can pre-order C.C. Hunte...

Go Fourth And Sparkle!

Happy Monday All, A very happy 4th of July to all my fellow Americans! Happy Birthday to the U.S.A! Will Graham is celebrating the 4th all the way through July 15th with a very special offer on his novels, Street Heat and Sometimes There Really ARE Monsters Under The Bed . Up until July 15th both novels are on sale on Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook for just 99 cents each! Be sure to stop by his blog for links to both novels on Kindle and Nook . So do any of you all have special plans for today? Me and my family are going to have a laid back 4th . Have A Fabulous Fourth!

Zombies, RWA Twitters, Paperback, and It's Friday!

Happy Friday All, It's been a rather quiet week with RWA Nationals going on (catch up on RWA Conference news by way of Twitter ). I'm not there--wasn't in the cards for this year, but I've seen pictures from a couple of chapter mates of mine. But wait! Maybe it's not as quiet as I thought... This just in... Suzan Harden has released the second novel in her Bloodlines series (this release is the next one after Blood Magick ) The new release is entitled Zombie Love . It's available now on Amazon Kindle  It's also available on Smashwords , and XinXii . (Should be available on Barnes & Noble Nook soon).  Gotta say, I don't envy Suzan's heroine, Samatha "Sam" Rideway. Although, Sam sounds like she can handle anything thrown at her.   Also, yesterday Will Graham's book, Street Heat went in-print through Amazon . It's been available on Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook for awhile now, but now you can also get it in print. ...

Daddy's Princess

Happy Saturday All, I don't normally post on the weekend, but there's a couple of things to mention... Before I get started on today's topic, Meb Bryant, the author of Harbinger Of Evil ( Amazon Kindle ... also available in print at Amazon   and available on Barnes & Noble Nook ) has put out a new one called Monster Spray available on Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook . Now, let me explain the title of today's post: Father's Day is on Sunday, so I thought I'd take the time to devote this post to my father and to all of us who want to pay tribute to our dads. My father has always been one of my biggest supporters. He's the one who took me to the park and taught me how to ride a two-wheel bicycle without training wheels. He tutored me in Geometry my Sophomore year when I was struggling to understand what a Theorem was and how in the world all this pertained to real life. I may have passed up 21 years ago, but Dad still calls me "...

Reopening On Monday

Hello Everyone, Due to Holy Week, the Easter Festivities, and family obligations, I'm going to take a mini vacation from posting. I'm returning on Monday (I'm not going anywhere, just not going to be posting any new posts until Monday). In the meantime, you can check out the review I did for Second Chances , and the post I did on Historical Novels this week . I'll be checking comments and emails, so if you have anything to say, feel free to comment here or email me . Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the week and a very Happy Easter!
