Talking About Learning Disabilities/Challenges Part 3...

Happy Tuesday Everybody, Thank you for joining us on this blog series. Today is the last one. The comments and response has been wonderful--thank you for that as well! There are young people in the world struggling with learning differences (sometimes called learning disabilities) who may or may not feel they aren’t as good as those who don’t have these disabilities/challenges. The three of us—Bethany Averie, Ryan Jo Summers, and Christie Craig—have all faced learning disabilities/difficulties and based on our personal experiences, and what we see in the world today, were inspired to share our own stories with you. We’ll be posting each author’s Q&A style on all our blogs. Today is the last day with author Christie Craig's interview up. Our wish is for you teens and young adults to never be afraid to dream big. In a world where less than someone’s definition of perfect can mean the difference between acceptance and rejection, we want you to stand up and pursue...

Spotlight On Author: Marie Hall

Happy Tuesday All, Please forgive me. This post is several days late, and I'm embarrassed about that. Unfortunately, the day that I was planning to post it, I was too busy PR-ing this author's release (and a couple of other authors' releases) that it slipped my mind. Then Offspring got sick, then the weekend came (and I usually don't post on the weekends). However, I'm posting it NOW. I met author Marie Hall through Facebook and Twitter after having enjoyed 1-2 of her titles. I've been reading her Kingdom novels, which are fairy-tale based. They deal with characters that are either seen as villains or not quite heroes. The first novel of hers I read was Her Mad Hatter (which you can get on Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook--I think you can still get it for free, I haven't looked at the links in a while), and have since moved on to several of her other titles. Marie is a fun, vivacious person and I was thrilled to pieces (figuratively sp...

Blog Tour Details, A Thank You, & Movies...

Happy Monday All (the time stamp might read Sunday, but this is actually for Monday), First of all, I got to say, thank you to everyone who commented on the Four Foxes One Hound Blog post and the Soul Mate Publishing Blog Post.  I read some of the kindest, sweetest, comments from you all and I'm truly touched, humbled, flattered, and feeling honored and privileged to have such things said about me. I really am grateful and appreciate it. So, thank you, thank you, thank you! Good news! The Blog Tour is NOT over. On July 10th (also release day!) I will visit Eat Read Rate , as guest blogger for Melissa Ohnoutka. Join me as I go into depth about my writing journey. What books did I read growing up? Why didn't I pursue a writing career when I was younger (beyond not feeling qualified)? What happened when I pitched All's Fair In Love & Lion to my editor from Soul Mate Publishing? What's the deeper story behind how AFIL&L came to be? (more in-depth than the int...

Stop Number 2 On The Blog Tour!

Happy Weekend Everybody, Normally I don't post on the weekend, but today is stop #2 of the Bethany Averie All's Fair In Love & Lion Blog Tour... Today's stop is as the guest of Stella, over on the Soul Mate Publishing Blog. Stella is a chapter mate of mine. She's encouraging, generous, and fun to be around. We've had a blast bouncing ideas off each other and at one time critiqued one another's work. She's very creative, and I enjoy knowing her. There's also two other Soul Mate Publishing authors being featured along with me! So come on out and check it all out. Do I have a muse...?  Well the only way to find out, is to join me on the Soul Mate Publishing Blog ! Have A Great Weekend!

Spotlight On Author Lynn Kurland

Happy Monday Everybody, The edits for All's Fair In Love & Lion are doing all right. I'm working on several ideas for promotional items, and fun little tidbits...which, I will reveal sometime in the future. I'm very excited about several things and hope you'll enjoy them, too. I know it's been a very long time since I've done an author interview. For that, I do apologize. However, I promise, it's worth the wait! Lynn Kurland is an author I discovered when I was in high school (many moons ago). The first book I read by her was probably This Is All I Ask. When I started reading her, she didn't have a lot of books out, but now Lynn has two series--Paranormal/Historical Romance following the MacLeod & de Piaget families, and a fantasy one full of magic. I haven't really read her fantasy books; however, the MacLeod/de Piaget books are awesome (and there are a bunch of them, now, I'm happy to say). My favorite is probably Stardust Of Ye...

He Said/She Said...

Happy Friday All, Again, I've been MIA! I've got to stop making this a habit. I'll keep working at it. Meanwhile, follow what's going on by following me on Twitter (@WriteByBethany)--you can also see what I tweet/retweet in my Twitter Feed in the margin of this blog. Or find me under my name, Bethany Averie, on Facebook. Facebook and Twitter are updated regularly.  I've also joined Goodreads, for those who get on that. Been thinking about updating the Road Map that I posted in 2010 (you can find it in margin of this blog...you'll have to arrow down a bit). But I also thought it would be fun to let y'all know what advice the authors I've interviewed had to give to aspiring authors. Since I've done several interviews, I'm going to post this list with author's name and genre. You pick which one you want to check out (or read the whole interview for that matter). By the way...I do intend to do author interviews this year. I have one alre...

Pardon The Silence...

Happy Wednesday All, So sorry I've been so silent lately! Monday offspring came home with a bug bite on the foot. We went to the doc's office and got some advice. Yesterday offspring had to stay home to stay off of the foot, but offspring is doing much better so back to school today! Whew. It wasn't fun, but at least it's better than it was. I'm over-the-moon happy because I have an author interview all set. Just trying to figure out what day to post it (the author gave me free reign for a date). Very good interview and I'm looking forward to posting it. At the end of this month Josephine Angelini's Dreamless (the sequel to Starcrossed ) will be out! Yep, I've pre-ordered it. The first book was so good I read it 3 or 4 times already and I'd read it again! I finished reading Nicholas Sparks' The Lucky One . It's a pretty good story. I still like A Walk To Remember and The Notebook best! I'm looking forward to seeing the...

Ash Wednesday

Happy Wednesday All, Because it's Ash Wednesday and the first day of Lent, I'm going to take a day off from a usual post today. I'll be back on Thursday. If you missed yesterday's post, please go check it out. I did an interview with the talented Loretta Wheeler . Have A Wondrous Wednesday!

Spotlight On Author: Loretta Wheeler

Happy Tuesday Everyone, There's a gem of an author I've had the privilege of coming across...I'm talking about my friend, Loretta Wheeler. She's a sweetheart and very talented author. I enjoyed her YA Paranormal novella, The Pan Man immensely. And, she also writes Romance. So without further ado, come into my parlor and meet Loretta Wheeler: Me:  In your YA novelette, The Pan Man , you mention Pan's looking for his long lost soul mate. What made you choose Pan out of all the Greek/Roman gods and goddesses? Loretta:  I chose the Greek god Pan, because of the connection with the music. I found later on in the story, (my stories take over and write themselves usually) it applied even more than I realized because of the band's name. I won't mention the name of the band in here, because it's part of the surprise ending. Me:  You're mostly known for your Romance stories. How would you describe your writing style? Hot, suspenseful, sensual, sw...

Spotlight On Author: Lauren Oliver

Happy Friday Everyone, I'm delighted to introduce November author interview to you, Lauren Oliver . I read her YA Dystopian novel,  Delirium , and it was very thought provoking, imaginative, interesting, and kept me on the edge of my seat. Me:   In Delirium love is viewed as a disease. What made you decide to write a dystopian YA dealing with that possibility? Lauren:  The idea for Delirium came from an essay I read by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, in which he wrote that all great books were about love or death. The next day I was thinking about that quote--particularly about how and in what form a modern love story could be told--while I was on the treadmill at the gym. I was simultaneously watching a news story about a flu outbreak that had everyone freaking out about the possibility of a pandemic , and I was kind of marvelling that people so easily go into panics about reports of these diseases, and at some point the two trains of thought--love, an...
