I Missed A May Post...And It's JUNE, Now...

Happy Tuesday All, Wow...I can't believe I actually forgot to post on here in May. In my defense, I thought I had, but when I came to post a June entry I realized I had missed May! In May, my husband and I celebrated our anniversary. We've been married for well over 10 years! :-) We didn't do anything big...but we did get take out from Chili's, which was good. My husband is my Real Life Hero. The man has seen me at my best and my worst and STILL loves me, so I'd say he's a keeper. My wedding was lovely. I felt like a princess (which is cool, since my Dad sometimes calls me "princess"). We had a blast at our reception and a wonderful honeymoon on St. Croix (US Virgin Islands). This June my parents will celebrate 57 years of marriage. I'm so happy for them! In terms of writing...I've turned a bit of a corner so to speak. I had a brainstorming session with my long-time critique partner, author Tess St. John , which helped one of my manuscripts q...

Updates, New Releases, & More...

Happy Tuesday Everybody, Status report:  Book Three, Immortal Love (of the Immortal Dreams Trilogy) is over halfway written. It's not yet as far along as I'd like, but it's making progress, which is good. Unfortunately sinus/migraine headache issues, and some other stuff got in the way this past week of me getting much writing in, so I'm trying to do much better this week. I'm relieved to tell you my headaches are better. Book Two of Immortal Dreams Trilogy:  Book Two, Astral Love , will release in the Fall of this year. From the schedule I received from my publisher it looks like some time in October (Ooo! Looks like a birthday present for moi. What do you all think?) Facebook:  There is now a Facebook page for the Immortal Dreams Trilogy. If you "Like" the page you will be able to keep up with updates. Things that will be exclusively posted there! (Such as Teaser #2 is already posted there) and cameo appearances from characters Laney an...

Upcoming Event, News, & More...

Happy Monday All, Mark your calendars those of you who will be in Houston on Saturday June 21, 2014, because I will be joining fellow author, Dana Wright , and some others for an event at a Barnes & Noble. You can read about the details here . I plan to bring All's Fair In Love & Lion  bookmarks, so if you want a signed bookmark, and to meet me and some other authors--ask questions and such, come on out. (I don't know about Immortal Dreams Trilogy bookmarks, that's something I'm working on some details, so I can't be sure if I will or not). Saturday I went to my chapter's monthly meeting. Author Will Graham talked about Jack the Ripper. He really did a great job. For anyone who doesn't know, Will is a very talented author, and I've been lucky enough to be able to chat with him about writing, publishing, and different things like that. He's been supportive of my career over the years. I'm very grateful for it. My critique pa...

Interview With A Hero...

Happy Friday All, Before you head off on your weekend fun, please stop by and check out the interview I did with Monroe (the hero of All's Fair In Love & Lion ). We're guest posting on my awesome Critique Partner, Tess St. John's blog. Come check it out and please be sure to leave a comment! (This is stop number 5 on my blog tour, by the way). :-) Have A Fabulously Fantastic Friday!

It All Started One Day (Or, "Once Upon A Time An Idea Was Born..")

Happy Thursday All,   I've been rather remiss about posting (FYI--if y'all are hoping this is a post about my cover art...sorry, that's not finalized yet, but I've seen a draft and it's gorgeous, dahlings! But keep reading, this is a behind-the-scenes look)   Over the weekend I hurried up after discovering I wasn't quite as far along on the edits as I had originally thought. Fortunately, I did get the edits turned in, so hurray!   My best friend, Sarah, (the one who died in February) made this for me years ago. I'm posting it in this blog post since she played a role in my journey. RIP Sarah. Love you! Lately I've gotten a little nostalgic thinking about my journey from first starting All's Fair In Love & Lion , to where it is now...with a draft cover, edits turned in, a July release (not sure of actual release date, but still) and in general, on its way to being available to the public.   I never thought I'd get...

What? Huh? Yeah, I'm here...Sort Of.

Happy Wednesday (late afternoon), Hi everyone! No, I haven't forgotten the blog or any of you. I've been pretty preoccupied lately. The best way to keep up with me is to find me either one of two ways (or both ways): On Twitter:  @WriteByBethany Or on Facebook:  do a search for Bethany Averie I update those frequently. There's been some blog updates that I did today. I updated books I finished reading. (Yes, it was good). I also updated about my writing. The status on Immortal Dreams Book 1:  Dream Weaver is that I got my critiques back so now it's in the revision process (and then that will go out to CP and beta reader/s and then more revisions until it's ready). I've got the companion novel for Surreal in the process of being written (that's been a bit slow) and Immortal Dreams Book 2 ( Dream Weaver sequel) started. So I've been fairly busy on that front. Updates have also been added to what movies I want to see. Of course that was ...

It's A Critique Thing

Happy Thursday All, Yesterday was Box Of Awesomeness Day. But just because yesterday is past doesn't mean you can't still share those awesome things/feelings/happenings throughout the year. In fact, I encourage you to keep me up-to-date on here and on Twitter (hashtag: #BoxOfAwesomeness tweet to me @WriteByBethany). We all need positive things/uplifting things in our lives, so let's see if we can keep it up all through 2013, okie-dokie? Since I'm getting Dream Weaver ready for critiques the process of critiquing is on my mind. Tess St. John and I have been critique partners for oh, about 4 years now. Yes, I have critiqued several of her novels (I swear this woman is a machine when it comes to writing, and she's so talented!) She and I have an understanding, which I think is important for all critique partners to have with each other and that's this:  Use what works for your story and ignore the rest. Which basically means, whatever works to strengthen yo...

Surprises Turned Into Awesomeness

Happy 2013 Everyone! Welcome back! New year, fresh start, and all that fun jazz. Kleenex for all the runny/ sniffly noses! I hope that so far 2013 is treating you right, although I understand a few folks out there have been fighting off icky illness stuff, and my thoughts and prayers are with them. Offspring has sinus infection, so I feel your pain. I've had allergies (again), but I'm doing all right otherwise (thank you, God!) My Holidays are not over, yet. The Christmas Season ends on Epiphany, so my decorations are staying up through January 6th. I know some folks go back to work or have their teen aged able-bodied children help them take stuff down while they're at home, but in general , I beg of you, please leave those decorations up through January 6th, if you possibly can! We rush through things at such a great rate these days, taking time to be grateful and to count our blessings is important. As a Christian, it's a good reminder to me that ...

Releases, I Hang Out With A Beast & Life In General

Happy Wednesday All, Okay I'm late on reporting this (Bad Bethany!!) but, hopefully it's worth the wait. My wonderful critique partner, Tess St. John has put out a brand-new novel, Angel Eyes . For anyone who's read Don't Let It Show and Eyes Of Jade , this is Roy's story! Also, you can get for free, the prelude/prologue short story to Angel Eyes called Violet Eyes (which I've read and helped critique...it's really good. I helped critique a little bit on Angel Eyes --I remember I liked what I read). Most of her books are available on Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook, and some of her previous titles are available in-print through Amazon. Violet Eyes is only available through Tess's website, you can download it for free here on her book portion of her homepage . Lately I've been re-reading Alex Flinn's Beastly (one of my favorite re-tellings of Beauty & The Beast ) and she put out on E-book Beastly: Lindy's Diary (which...

Undercover & Falling In Love

Happy Monday All, ***Giveaway is now CLOSED. Thank you to all those who participated. Look for more giveaways THIS week. Thank you especially to Tess St. John for donating the prize for today!*** Yep--it's the December Days Blog Giveaway icon! Today my dear friend and illustrious Critique Partner, Tess St. John , is graciously providing the prize:  her Romantic Suspense, Eyes Of Jade : E-book cover Can Jake Dane protect a beloved starlet before the threats on her life mean a permanent retirement? *UPDATE as of 12:30 P.M. Central Time:  As Tess pointed out in the comments what I posted is the E-Book cover. Unfortunately I'm not able to post the paperback version. Everytime I try to, it comes up really, really small and when I try to enlarge it the cover looks extremely blurry. The only difference between the two covers is that on the paperback version Jake is the only one on the front of the book and the starlet is on the back. Yours tru...

Books, Events, And Fairy Tales

Happy Monday All, How many of you all caught ABC's Once Upon A Time on Sunday evening? I did! I love fairy tale stuff and I can already tell this is going to be a show for me. It's great to see the fairy tale people sort of in the "real" world. Wondering how every body is going to be rescued but it's still fun to see each character come across and introduced. The back and forth between fairy tale land and the real world is pretty seamless and I didn't mind it. Show comes on Sundays on ABC at 8 p.m. Eastern and 7 p.m. Central times. I finished reading Awake At Dawn (book 2 in Shadow Falls series) by C.C. Hunter . VERY good. I'm still a Lucas fan, folks! He's got my vote. Kylie's learning more and developing her many talents--and I can't wait to see where this is gonna lead. Taken At Dusk will be out April 2012--looking forward to it! I also finished reading Don't Let It Show by Tess St. John . Tess is my critique partner (awesome pe...

NEW RELEASES ALERT!!!

Happy Monday Everybody, PLEASE NOTE:  In the margin of this blog I've supplied a post regarding the problems some people have been with trying to comment on this blog. I'm going to be implementing a new thing for posting comments on here to see if that cuts down on some of the problems. The post in the margin has information on what to do if, for some reason, Blogger won't let you comment. Whew! There are new releases popping out all over the place... Not too long ago, Rick Riordan put out book 2 in his Heroes Of Olympus series, Son Of Neptune (which I gotta pick up, soon!) Apparently Vanish by Sophie Jordan (book 2 in her dragon series) has come out (yet another one I need to get my hands on--I loved Firelight ). (It came out in September). Tess St. John's second Romantic Suspense, Eyes Of Jade is now available on Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook for your reading pleasure! (Interesting trivia for y'all:  I critiqued the first 3 chapte...
