Sometimes You Have To Kiss Frogs...

Happy Tuesday All, This once a week blogging seems to be working for me so far. Whether or not I stick to Tuesdays remains to be seen. I might choose to jump around. But for now, it works. For Christmas I received Book 8 of the Enchanted, Inc. series by Shanna Swendson . I've loved this series since I stumbled upon it one day some years ago, and waited and waited for Book 5, and then waited a little while for Books 6 and 7. I thought she had left the series behind after Book 7, but was happily surprised when she announced that in December 2016 there would be another one. I received this new one for Christmas and wanted to write a blog book review to tell you all about it. Katie Chandler and Owen Palmer are back! Freshly engaged, and glowing with that "I'm-in-love-and-narrowly-lost-my-soulmate-due-to-crazy-elves" glow, but unfortunately, their happiness isn't meant to last. Once more evil magic is in the air. People are disappearing and Katie is determined...

Are You Embraced?

Happy Tuesday One & All, So, are you all ready? Today I have an official blog book review for you...the very first one of 2017. Pretty cool, huh? I think so, anyway. This one came about when I requested the ARC of her upcoming book one of her new series. I agreed to do a review in exchange for the ARC (Advanced Readers Copy).  When March 2017 hits, readers and Kerrelyn Sparks fans will embark on a brand new journey into a Fantasy Romance. Kerrelyn weaves a world of imagination, magic, adventure, suspense, danger, intrigue, and romance. As always, her story is well-mapped out and she handles the details well.  Lord Leofric (Leo) is an interesting leading man--he can be hit and survive a lightning strike, while absorbing the power and in turn, wielding it for his own purposes. Unfortunately, he can't TOUCH anyone. Luciana's character arc takes the journey of her taking a step that looks brave, and showing her actually becoming determined and brave. She's no ...

Authors Being "Oncers"...

Happy Monday Everybody! Hello! For those of you who don't know me, I'm author Bethany Averie. I'm also owner of this blog, and author of 4 published novels. I’m so excited about today’s blog post. I’m doing something I’ve never done; although, I have talked about my love of the TV show, Once Upon A Time , I've never  invited other authors who are fans to weigh in on what they love about the show. Well, all that changes today! Today you'll get to hear what myself, and other authors have to say about the show. Maybe they're authors you've heard of, maybe not. Perhaps there's a book they've written that intrigues you. You get the chance not only to find out more about Once Upon A Time (if you're a fan either agree or disagree with what we say) and maybe pick up new favorite author. Once Upon A Time airs on ABC at 7 p.m. Central / 8 p.m. Eastern on Sunday nights. Sunday (November 30th) episode was really good. A show is really a hit w...

If History Was Alive

Happy Tuesday All, In the movie, Night At The Museum historical figures, as well as natural ones come alive at night through a magical Ancient Egyptian stone and gold tablet. So, if you had a hold of such magic, what history would you want to see come alive? What questions would you ask? Would you have to know a different language? It also begs the question, what would historical figures think of today's countries and societies? How about technology? If we're talking about ancient civilizations would what we have now scare them or impress them? What do you think? Have A Treat-Filled Tuesday!

Redeeming The Beast

Happy Monday Everyone, How many of you all follow ABC's Once Upon A Time ? I rarely miss an episode. Sunday's episode, Skin Deep , we see another side of Rumpelstiltskin. The show re imagines fairy tales through taking what we know and adding in other details. More than one fairy tale might be mashed together to come up with another story. The Evil Queen (also the mayor, Regina, of Storybrooke) has put a curse on all the peoples of the Enchanted Forest...brought into our world and our time they don't know who they were as fairy tale creatures. They end up in Storybrooke...living lives with false memories and no idea who they really are. Emma Swan, who becomes the sheriff in later episodes, is the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming (but she doesn't know that). All Emma knows is that she was given up as a baby and was passed from one foster home to another. Her son was adopted out, and it's that son that finds her and brings her to Storybrooke. Henry (E...

Weave Through Time A Bit Of Celtic Magic

Happy Wednesday Everybody, I forgot to let you all know that Andrea Creamer's Bloodrose , book 3 in her Nightshade series came out yesterday. I've got it and am looking forward to reading it...if you haven't read this series, it's a YA Paranormal...wolves done differently...not your typical werewolf fare at all. Really good. If you haven't checked out Nightshade I recommend it. Now, for anyone who didn't read the comments in the comments section of yesterday's post , I warned a commenter that I'd be posting about more books I've read. After all, I mentioned I got THREE books for Christmas and I'm now reading last one. Today I'm going to talk about one of the ones I received and tomorrow I'll talk about the other (I don't know when I'll talk about the last one, I still have to finish reading it). The first book I chose to read out of my Christmas presents was Lesley Livingston's Once Every Never . I chose it because i...

It's Magical!

Happy Wednesday All, From mermaids to dragons, I'm enjoying the fantasy/paranormal (when am I not?) So that makes me wonder...if you had magical powers what would you do with them? Fly instead of drive? Wave your hand and be showered, dressed and ready for the day? Housework and laundry would be done in record time in my house. Shoot, I could cook up a very involved dinner in seconds! The sky's the limit...what would you do with magical powers? Have A Wand-er-Full Wednesday!

Sprinkle In The Fairy Dust

Howdy Folks, Do you know how much I love fairy tales? Have I forgotten to mention that lately? Okay, if I have, let me reiterate: I LOVE FAIRY TALES! I even love retellings of fairy tales / mythology (as many you already know). Here's some of my favorites: Beastly by Alex Flinn (re-telling of Beauty & The Beast ) Belle by Cameron Dokey (again, Beauty & The Beast) A Kiss In Time by Alex Flinn ( The Sleeping Beauty ) Midnight Pearls by Debbie Viguié ( The Little Mermaid ) Scarlet Moon by Debbie Viguié ( Little Red Riding Hood ) Wild Orchid by Cameron Dokey ( The Ballad Of Mulan ) Anyway, those are just a few, but you get the idea. Another series I like a lot are these: Shadow Of The Bear, Black As Night, Waking Rose all by Regina Doman (Can you guess which fairy tales influenced these books? In Order: Snow White & Rose Red, Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs, The Sleeping Beauty ). Fairy Tale Weddings by Debbie Macomber contains 2 novellas by Macomber that are fa...
