I'm jazzed on java AND also jazzed by the fact that I remembered today is C.C. Hunter's release of book 2 in the ShadowFalls series, Awake At Dawn.

It's time to return to ShadowFalls and see what Kylie's up to, now. In Born At Midnight she learned not everything is what it seems, and that she doesn't know herself as well as she thought she did, but not for the ordinary reasons!

Now, it's time for her to learn more about her powers, deal with more ghosts, and the agonizing question nearly every teenage girl goes through--which guy to go for!

You never know what C.C.'s gonna throw at you next and I cannot wait to get my hands on this book!

Have You Caught The New Releases?

Happy Tuesday Everybody,

Well, I have discovered the importance of coffee in my life--although I knew it already, I was reminded again this morning...especially when I was trying to type in passwords on email and Twitter before I finished my first cup of coffee. Not smart.

Today is a release day! The Humorous Vampire Queen, Kerrelyn Sparks, and the Cool As Can Be, Will Graham, both have new books out today!



Kerrelyn Sparks has her brand new adult Vampire Romance, Love At Stake novel featuring my favorite character, Gregori out. You can find Sexiest Vampire Alive in paperback at Amazon or at Barnes & Noble or on Amazon Kindle, or if you don't have a Kindle on Barnes & Noble Nook.

Will Graham has his new adult Romantic Thriller novel, Spider's Dance is now available through Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook. I've heard a lot about this novel and it looks like it'll be quite a ride!

Currently, I'm way behind on my reading because I've been prepping for the NWHRWA Lone Star Conference, but I hope to catch up sometime after the conference.

Are there any releases I've missed? I know I don't always catch them all (and that's not on purpose, either).

Coffee, Directions, & The Alpha Male

Happy Thursday All,

Tomorrow is the eve before the Conference (sounds like a Christmas book title, huh?) Which is pretty exciting...although nothing penetrates the haze of sleepiness until the caffeine breaks through and takes affect.

Okay, I know not all writers are coffee drinkers, but the majority I've met/know are (on some level). Some of us will admit to not being at our best before that first cup of java hits our system.

Sure, we might have 5 ideas jumping around in our heads from some great dream we had or something that's been bugging us (see the Gnat entry from a few days ago for info on that) but things aren't going to fall into place if we're bleary eyed from lack of caffeine.

The good news is the story gnat is finally starting to stick around long enough for me to get a picture of what's been poking around in my imagination (whether a good idea or not, it's still something I want to play with and see what happens and see if it is a workable story idea).

Can you imagine a decaffeinated author?

The heroine might end up walking into a tree and staying in a coma for the rest of her life.

Or the hero might actually stop for directions, which is very un-alpha male of him--if you go with stereotypes anyway. 

But let's imagine the hero asking for directions whether it's alpha male of him or not:

Would we like Duncan MacLeod from Highlander quite so much if he was asking for directions all the time instead of beating the crap out of the bad guy?

Or what about Mr. Darcy? He never asked for directions. He would've been the one giving directions.

I imagine, however, if we female authors are driving around with our alpha males lost for eternity, we will, in fact, push said alpha males to stop for directions. Either that, or demand he stops the car and go in and ask for a map ourselves.

But I can't see any alpha males in our stories stopping for a map or directions. They're too busy kicking butt and winning the girl. Although, emotionally, some of them might need an atlas--except that wouldn't make the story half so engrossing, would it?

Just Give Me A Vat Of Coffee

Morning Everybody!

Bet you're wondering why I didn't say "good morning". There's a new sleep schedule going in my life currently and I'm not used to it. For some reason yesterday I had less sleep and I was more awake and last night I had more sleep and I'm less awake. Weird phenomenon. But at least I have my coffee to wake me up.

Yesterday I was terrible about getting work done on my writing. Fortunately, though, I got some done. I'm wrestling with some ideas and not exactly sure which direction to take, yet.

Coffee must be kicking in, I'm starting to get a bit more awake. Maybe if I have another one I'll be chipper -- maybe even"bright eyed and bushy tailed" (although I don't have a tail, so I'm not sure how I'm supposed to fulfill that saying).

In any case, Pierre will continue to romance Delaney. I'll be working on my manuscript today (while stopping every so often to look up a French phrase!) But I have decided I really like Pierre (my male main character). He is one smooth customer and in some the "typical guy" (I'm surprised Delaney hasn't hit him yet, but she probably will if she can quit blushing LOL). I should be grateful to all the guys I've known or dated and to my husband. They taught me how guys tease women so now I can use that knowledge in writing my novel. I also like the cat. She's got an attitude (as most cats do) and thinks she's a superior being (aren't they?) It's actually a mostly fun story to write, I'm just trying to figure out the current state of affairs.

How do you all deal with sleepiness? Coffee? Soda? A ton of sugar? Just let me know!

By the way, today is a 2 posts day: I just got permission from my friend, Les to post the parody I wrote him called "Because Of The Pie" on here. It's not very well edited (I edited it myself--I didn't send it to my editor); and I just wrote it for fun, so it's probably full of errors. If you don't mind, just skip over the errors and have fun with the story. But it was something I wrote him just for a laugh. Anyway, hope it makes you laugh! (Don't worry my manuscripts will be edited better than "Because Of The Pie").
