Just For Laughs

Morning All,

Once again Bane gave me this idea with his blog post. With all the publicity I'm giving his blog, he should be getting a lot of visitors LOL. Oh and Marsha, too. Marsha's Walmart Post also plays a role in inspiring today's post.

First of all, I have to tie it in with writing...since my blog is almost strictly about writing and writing path.

So I'll do it this way. If any of you all have read either of my parodies, you'll remember how goofy my sense of humor is. Les was willing to have me parody his life. First when I made up the character of Catalina in Because Of The Pie, and the one I did for him and his friend, Bob in The Adventures of Super Les And His SideKick, Bob.

Of course, there's other funny writings out there. Like Dave Barry and his various books. Or Jim Davis's Garfield or any other comic strips.

But other than people's writing books with comedy in it, or lines/characters that make you laugh out loud (LOL) what else out there "cracks you up"?

For me, it's things like LOL Cats. I think that's hysterical. There's another site called LOL Saints (which, I find extremely funny and not at all offensive to me and my faith).

Another site I find hugely funny is comic Tim Hawkins site, which has some videos of his material. You can look it up here.

We all need a laugh every now and again. Whether it's through websites like this, or going to see stand up comedy or reading comic strips or through witty/funny dialogue and characters, laughter is a good thing.

There are people who even say laughter lowers blood pressure. So hey, feel free to put funny in your stories...as long as it goes along with the story!

How do you tickle your funny bone?

Have A Wacky Wednesday!

Thanks for another shout out ;) -- and, great post. I laugh/smile too infrequently, and sites like LOL Cats are perfect ones to lighten the mood. Thanks!

Hi, I am jumping over from Stephanie Faris's Blog to say Thank you for speaking up, you said what I wanted and said it well. I spoke out yesterday, I thought rationally, but I guess it was taken wrong. But I wanted to stop in and say Thank you, and to check out your blog. :)

Bane--

You're welcome. Laughter does a body good :-) Pass it on! (remember those old milk commericials?) Anyway, you're welcome, glad you liked it. :-)

Lissaloo--

Yeah, sometimes things get taken wrong...especially online. And you're welcome. Thanks for the compliment :-)

I find humor in everything, even morbid things. You have to be able to laugh at yourself too. Life is too short to take things too seriously.
I loved those websites by the way!

Marsha,

Glad you liked 'em! :-) Keep on chortling!

Ok I had to go back and check Steph's post. I have a hard time with her blog when I'm at work for some reason. The firewall doesn't like it. It was interesting and even though we have different opinions on some issues, you better still love me!

I love your name!!! What do I do to laugh? Watch America's Funniest Videos. Silly, I know. But it always makes me laugh! And then my husband laughs at me and I laugh harder. Sort of like perpetual laughter.

Hi! I loved the comment you left yesterday on Steph in the City's blog about marriage being more than a piece of paper. I couldn't agree more with everything you were saying, and had to click through to your blog to tell you that. Very well put, and very true :)

Marsha,

Nah...all bets are off! JUST KIDDING (P.S. haven't even looked up your comment). Actually I'm kinda baffled how this comment section about laughing has become about that blog post/my comment on that blog post. I'd prefer emails over it since I like to keep my blog almost strictly about writing. People can email me at bethanyintexas@yahoo.com about it, if they want to tell me something about it.

:-)

Bethany W.,

I know. You and I have one of the greatest names ever invented. I applaud your parents' wisdom in naming you Bethany! LOL. Thank you for the compliment :-)

It's Worth A Fortune

Happy Tuesday Everyone, Does anyone remember the song If I Had A Million Dollars by Barenaked Ladies ? I can't remember when or how I was first introduced to this song, but it's a fun song. So, how about if you had a million dollars? What would you do with it? Of course there's the responsible things to do with a million dollars--pay off debts, and such like that. Then there's the question of whether or not you give to charities, and how much. But, suppose you answered all those questions and you still had quite a lot left; what would you do with it? Maybe I'd go to Disney World. I've wanted to go, and I've never been able to. Or, perhaps I'd go to Germany and England, and Belgium (three of the countries my ancestors are from). Travel around seeing family and friends I don't see often. There's all kinds of possibilities. So, what about you? What would you do with a million dollars? Have A Tremendous Tuesday!

Spotlight On Author: Loretta Wheeler

Happy Tuesday Everyone, There's a gem of an author I've had the privilege of coming across...I'm talking about my friend, Loretta Wheeler. She's a sweetheart and very talented author. I enjoyed her YA Paranormal novella, The Pan Man immensely. And, she also writes Romance. So without further ado, come into my parlor and meet Loretta Wheeler: Me:  In your YA novelette, The Pan Man , you mention Pan's looking for his long lost soul mate. What made you choose Pan out of all the Greek/Roman gods and goddesses? Loretta:  I chose the Greek god Pan, because of the connection with the music. I found later on in the story, (my stories take over and write themselves usually) it applied even more than I realized because of the band's name. I won't mention the name of the band in here, because it's part of the surprise ending. Me:  You're mostly known for your Romance stories. How would you describe your writing style? Hot, suspenseful, sensual, sw...

Myths About Writers

Afternoon Folks, I thought we'd do a post to dispel some of the myths people seem to have about writers. I'll put the ones that first come to mind then y'all can chime in. Myth: Writing is a great way to make a lot of money. I'm not sure exactly how this one matriculated. Probably in the wake of some of the big best sellers (i.e. Stephen King, Anne Rice, Stephenie Meyer, JK Rowling, and the like) but most of the time writers put in more money for their writing than they do get out of it. Generally a writer doesn't make a ton of money unless somehow his/her book is a blockbuster hit and blasts through what the author owes in the advance (which is paid back to publishers through royalties). Most writers I've met and talked to are not millionaires. I'm not saying it can't happen, I'm saying it's not one of those things that's automatic. Myth: Writing Is Easy Anybody Can Do It. Okay, granted this isn't entirely a myth, but it's not ent...
