Pirates Take Over My E-Reader

Happy Friday All,

Before I get started on today's topic, I want to give you all a heads up about a post I enjoyed on another blog. This post was done by Will Graham, author of Street Heat and Sometimes There Really Are Monsters Under The Bed. I highly recommend you check out the post, it's called Can't Never Did Anything and it's on MuseTracks.

But, first, before you go to MuseTracks to check out that awesome blog post, come on board a pirate ship with me in Jennifer Bray-Weber's Pirate Romance, Blood And Treasure.

I've been interested in reading this one because pirates are one of those mysteriously fascinating things that I've sort of dipped my foot into every now and again (plus I'd heard great things about it). I don't know much about them, but I know some of the legends and stories out there. After all, my husband's a big fan of the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies and of course, Laura Childs' Tea Shop Mystery had some pirate lore in it.

So, I purchased and downloaded to my e-reader Jennifer's book (she plans to have it available in-print at some point).

From page one she had my attention. She took just a short paragraph to have me picturing a street behind a tavern in the 1700's. I stood there with her heroine, Lianna Whitney, as she's startled by a French man who slides a medallion down her dress. I could see pirates, Captain Zane Fox, and his best mate, Blade, burst through and make off with her.

Jennifer's imagery is so fantastic. You sail the seas right with her characters, you duck the British soldiers, deal with betrayal, contemplate the hangman's noose, and a host of other adventures you'd only find on Captain Fox's ship.

The book is an adventure, romance, suspense, and thrilling ride all wrapped up into one novel.

If you haven't sailed the high seas with Captain Zane Fox and tavern-maid, Lianna Whitney, I suggest you get up that gangplank, weigh anchor, and set a course for one of the websites that offers the novel immediately!

Blood And Treasure by Jennifer Bray-Weber is currently available on Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook.

Have A Festive Friday!

Every time I read anything of Jenn's, I have this terrible temptation to say things like "Arrrrgh!" and "Avast and Avaunt, ye scurvy dog!" But, I can also say, there are times I think I can feel the ship under my feet, and almost smell the air of the sea. Yeah, she's THAT good....

Aw...thanks for the shout out, Bethany. I'm so glad you enjoyed Blood and Treasure. Lianna and Zane are dear to my heart, as is Blade, and it thrills me when others find their tale as adventuresome and fun as I do.

Thanks, again.
Jenn!

Get Thee A Nom De Plume!

Good Evening One & All, Shakespeare wrote in Romeo & Juliet, "What's in a name?...A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Disney talked about names in Aladdin in the lyrics, "Better get a nom de plume ." (the song, "One Jump"). So, for a writer, what does a nom de plume (or, pen name) say about the author? It could be a different spelling of the author's name, it could be a name that has a significance. They could keep their first name, but change the last, or change both. A pen name is also the name a writer will write under for his or her books. The name that his or her readers will recognize them. The name on the autographs and the one where people will say, "Oh yes, that's so and so, they wrote..." Some authors write under their own names. Others, for a variety of reasons, choose a pen name. What about you? Are you considering a pen name? What have you looked at when thinking of your nom de plume ? For myself, I...

Spotlight On Author: Loretta Wheeler

Happy Tuesday Everyone, There's a gem of an author I've had the privilege of coming across...I'm talking about my friend, Loretta Wheeler. She's a sweetheart and very talented author. I enjoyed her YA Paranormal novella, The Pan Man immensely. And, she also writes Romance. So without further ado, come into my parlor and meet Loretta Wheeler: Me:  In your YA novelette, The Pan Man , you mention Pan's looking for his long lost soul mate. What made you choose Pan out of all the Greek/Roman gods and goddesses? Loretta:  I chose the Greek god Pan, because of the connection with the music. I found later on in the story, (my stories take over and write themselves usually) it applied even more than I realized because of the band's name. I won't mention the name of the band in here, because it's part of the surprise ending. Me:  You're mostly known for your Romance stories. How would you describe your writing style? Hot, suspenseful, sensual, sw...
