Happy Monday All,
I was watching one of the cable channels and it was saying Saturday they were going to show the movie Pretty In Pink. I love that movie. I had the VHS version of it, then my VCR broke and I haven't replaced the VHS version with the DVD yet.
There's just some movies that you hold onto, even twenty or so years later, you still love 'em. And can quote them.
A good example is The Princess Bride. I think my family can recite almost (if not the entire) movie. ("Chocolate helps it go down easier."--Valerie from The Princess Bride).
When I was growing up all it took to set me and my whole family quoting lines/songs from the musical 1776 was to say one line. ("Simple! Johnny here's obnoxious and disliked."--Richard Henry Lee, 1776).
Of course you can't forget Casablanca and "Here's looking at you, kid." (Humphrey Bogart's mannerisms help define the word "suave").
So what movies do you think are quite quotable?
Have A Memorable Monday!

"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."
"Yippee Ki Yay, Mother----!"
It is amazing, as I think of it,how many permeate our converstaions here, and even greetings, from Casablanca to Thomas-the Tank Engine,(I saw a couple of early ones the other night for the first time in a while, and I could hear my mother quoting some of the lines...guess the oldest grandson over-played them!)But then, I guess lines, a good story are what WE are striving for...I'd LOVE to have a line or two of mine quoted out there!
[Do you know the movie Les Visiteurs? It ran in France literally for years and I hear people walked around quoting lines from it continually.I can only read subtitles,(and it isn't squeaky clean), but it is a good movie.Jean Reno is incredible!]
I'm not sure where the last quote came from. The first one looks familair, but I can't remember and I can defintely identify the second! Thank you for dropping by. Always good to "see" you :-)
My mom is that way with songs (and so are the rest of us). I remember when we'd say "Please, mom, please!" She'd start singing "Please, mister, please! Don't play B17..." Really annoying at the time, now I find it amusing. Thank you for dropping by. Good to "see" you :-)
I don't think I ever saw the French movie you were talking about, but I agree with you about good quotes and hoping to be quoted (in a good way) one day. Thank you for dropping by. Good to "see" you :-)
It is the story of a noble Knight from the Middle Ages who is bewitched; he mistakes his betrothed's father for a bear and kills him. He goes to his father's wizard, who, intending to send him back in time, send him instead to moden times,( with his vassal). He meets with is descendent, who is a dead ringer for his beloved, and the vassels' descendent,(again, a dual role), who is nouveau-riche and has bought the knight's castle. There is a series of misunderstandings, (He is mistaken for a long-lost cousin), as he tries to find his way to the descendent of his father's wizard to send him back.
Don't let the kids read the language,(it can be coarse), otherwise, it is terribly amusing.
Um, killing his betrothed's father? YIKES, but the rest sounds funny :-)
