Candy Memories

Happy Wednesday All,

Recently I had Nerds (the candy) again. I haven't had those things in years. I can't eat too many of them now, but I remember now how good they are. Definitely a trip down memory lane.

I remember walking into the CVS when I lived in New Jersey (this was many moons ago). We'd walk from our house downtown. The CVS had lime green carpet and bright fluorescent lights. I always felt like I had just woken up and someone turned on a light and shined it in my eyes when I walked into that store.

What triggers memories for you? What candy takes you back to your childhood? Is the candy still available in stores? (For the record, you get Nerds at different stores--they were at my grocery store).

Have A Whimsical Wednesday!

Royal Crown Sour Cherry! They ceased production back in the 1970's, but before that, those things were almost a food group for me!

Well, I ate tons of candy as a kid...but the one with a memory is PopRocks...I can remember that first one popping off my tongue after my first softball game.

Oh, wow...I forgot about Royal Crown Sour Cherry!
My brother handed me a pack of Goldberg's Chocolate Chews; THAT brought back memories! I ate so many candy 'Boston Baked Beans' when I was very small,I can't bear to smell them any more. There used to be Bonomo's "Turkish"Taffy; Laffy Taffy has NOTHING on it...but they don't make that any more , either. What I remember most about candy when this old (57) gal was a kid was how cheap it was!
Stay cool,People, wherever you are.

Tess,

I think they still make Pop Rocks. I haven't had them, though. Sounds like good memories! Thanks for dropping by :-)

Tonette,

I've never had the Boston Baked Beans--but I'm pretty sure I've heard of them. Never had the Turkish Taffy, but I've had Laffy Taffy--not a big fan of it. Thanks for dropping by :-)

Loretta was having trouble posting on here so she asked me to post her comment:

"I'm going waaaaaay back. My father used to love Chunky's. They were big squares of chocolate, with raisins and nuts inside. I sat in the rocker and ate them along with him. Sometimes, when I need a little comfort, I'll eat a piece of chocolate, and have a few raisins and nuts with it. Haven't seen a Chunky in years."

Loretta,

I've seen Ice Cream Bars called "Chunky", but I've never had them and I haven't had the candy, either. Thanks for dropping by :-) I'm sorry Blogger was giving you trouble again :-(

Chunkys are around...I usually see them when I am traveling...in 'quick stops' (gas stations).Pop Rocks are available off and on, I think...they try to keep interest up that way.I don't like Laffy Taffy either,Bethany...the Turkish Taffy was smooth, with rich vanilla and gentle strawberry or chocolate. It was creamy...oooh!

Dum Dum Pops are very much a nostalgic candy, we hear all the time about how people have their 'favorite' that they always reach in for. Personally, I go cream soda.

Get Thee A Nom De Plume!

Good Evening One & All, Shakespeare wrote in Romeo & Juliet, "What's in a name?...A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Disney talked about names in Aladdin in the lyrics, "Better get a nom de plume ." (the song, "One Jump"). So, for a writer, what does a nom de plume (or, pen name) say about the author? It could be a different spelling of the author's name, it could be a name that has a significance. They could keep their first name, but change the last, or change both. A pen name is also the name a writer will write under for his or her books. The name that his or her readers will recognize them. The name on the autographs and the one where people will say, "Oh yes, that's so and so, they wrote..." Some authors write under their own names. Others, for a variety of reasons, choose a pen name. What about you? Are you considering a pen name? What have you looked at when thinking of your nom de plume ? For myself, I&
