Extreme Identity Crisis

Happy Tuesday Everyone,

THE CONTEST PORTION OF THIS POST IS NOW CLOSED!

At last! The day I review C.C. Hunter’s YA series, book one, Born At Midnight is here. Some of you (that I’ve talked to personally) know how I feel about this book; others, are unaware. Either way, I plan to give you a taste of what C.C.’s Shadow Falls series (well at least book one) is like:

Teenage years are hard enough, but when you face your parents’ divorce, losing your boyfriend (just because you wouldn’t have sex with the jerk), a therapist who recommends some camp you never heard of, plus you and your best friend aren’t exactly as close as you used to be all at once, it can be a recipe for a really bad day. For Kylie Galen, it most definitely is one heck of a crappy day.

Kylie soon learns that Shadow Falls, the camp she's sent to, isn’t quite what she thought it would be. Vampires, werewolves, shape shifters, and fae running around…straight out of the imagination. How can such things be real? Why do they keep insisting Kylie is a supernatural like them? So what if she sees ghosts? Whoop-de-do that she was born at midnight. She’s still human…right?

But a stalker soldier dude, her vampire and witch roommates, and a fae camp counselor, beg to differ.

What will happen to Kylie if she accepts she just might be one of them? And if she is, what the heck is she? And why, when people know she sees ghosts, are they afraid of her?

Come join C.C. Hunter on a most unique identity crisis journey in a whole different spin on the paranormal in this brand new incredible YA series. I love this book and can’t wait to read Awake At Dawn (book number 2 in the series, being released in October of this year).

CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED!If you aren’t sure about whether to embark with us, then let C.C.’s giveaway help change your mind.

One lucky winner will get a copy of Born At Midnight (you wouldn’t have to take my word that this is an awesome book, you could find out for yourself--how cool is that?)

Here’s how the giveaway will work:

Yesterday I talked about the free e-novella (short story) C.C. was giving away for Nook and Kindle, entitled Turned At Dark.  Or you can read it: http://us.macmillan.com/CMS400/uploadedFiles/custompagecontents/titles/Turned%20At%20Dark_Story.pdf

So, step by step this is what you’ll need to do:

FIRST: Download your free copy of Turned At Dark and read it (it’s about 40 pages, you can do it!) Or you can read it at the site I mentioned above.

SECOND: Email me the answer to the following question:   What kind of supernatural/paranormal creature is the doctor who sees Della in the hospital in the story Turned at Dark(You have until 10 p.m. Central Standard Time tonight to email me your answers).

THIRD: If you email me with the correct answer to the question above I’ll enter you into a drawing to win a copy of Born At Midnight. I’ll email the winner and reveal the winner’s name on tomorrow’s post.

You can pick up a copy of Born At Midnight on March 29, 2011 from any of the following bookstores:

Amazon  Kindle
Barnes & Nobles  Nook
Borders
Katy Budget Books

And be sure to check out the author interview I did last week with C.C. Hunter for information on her upcoming appearances and release party :-)

Have A Thrilling Tuesday!

It's Worth A Fortune

Happy Tuesday Everyone, Does anyone remember the song If I Had A Million Dollars by Barenaked Ladies ? I can't remember when or how I was first introduced to this song, but it's a fun song. So, how about if you had a million dollars? What would you do with it? Of course there's the responsible things to do with a million dollars--pay off debts, and such like that. Then there's the question of whether or not you give to charities, and how much. But, suppose you answered all those questions and you still had quite a lot left; what would you do with it? Maybe I'd go to Disney World. I've wanted to go, and I've never been able to. Or, perhaps I'd go to Germany and England, and Belgium (three of the countries my ancestors are from). Travel around seeing family and friends I don't see often. There's all kinds of possibilities. So, what about you? What would you do with a million dollars? Have A Tremendous Tuesday!

Spotlight On Author: Loretta Wheeler

Happy Tuesday Everyone, There's a gem of an author I've had the privilege of coming across...I'm talking about my friend, Loretta Wheeler. She's a sweetheart and very talented author. I enjoyed her YA Paranormal novella, The Pan Man immensely. And, she also writes Romance. So without further ado, come into my parlor and meet Loretta Wheeler: Me:  In your YA novelette, The Pan Man , you mention Pan's looking for his long lost soul mate. What made you choose Pan out of all the Greek/Roman gods and goddesses? Loretta:  I chose the Greek god Pan, because of the connection with the music. I found later on in the story, (my stories take over and write themselves usually) it applied even more than I realized because of the band's name. I won't mention the name of the band in here, because it's part of the surprise ending. Me:  You're mostly known for your Romance stories. How would you describe your writing style? Hot, suspenseful, sensual, sw...

Myths About Writers

Afternoon Folks, I thought we'd do a post to dispel some of the myths people seem to have about writers. I'll put the ones that first come to mind then y'all can chime in. Myth: Writing is a great way to make a lot of money. I'm not sure exactly how this one matriculated. Probably in the wake of some of the big best sellers (i.e. Stephen King, Anne Rice, Stephenie Meyer, JK Rowling, and the like) but most of the time writers put in more money for their writing than they do get out of it. Generally a writer doesn't make a ton of money unless somehow his/her book is a blockbuster hit and blasts through what the author owes in the advance (which is paid back to publishers through royalties). Most writers I've met and talked to are not millionaires. I'm not saying it can't happen, I'm saying it's not one of those things that's automatic. Myth: Writing Is Easy Anybody Can Do It. Okay, granted this isn't entirely a myth, but it's not ent...
