Contest Day: Tantalizingly Tempting Tuesday

Happy Tuesday All,

So far the Write By Bethany's 25+ Followers Celebration is off to a great start! Yesterday went really well, so let's keep it going, shall we?

Just like yesterday, be sure to read the whole post!

Yesterday's winner was Kathy. Congratulations! You'll be receiving your copy of Laura Childs' Scones & Bones as soon as Laura can send a copy. Enjoy and thank you for participating.

Thank you, also, to everyone who participated yesterday. If you didn't win, I have good news! You have a chance to win a different prize today!

A little bit of trivia about today:  Originally it was going to be called Tip Top Tuesday--but in light of today's drawing, I wanted something a little bit more intriguing...

Why? you ask...

Well here's how today is going to be run...

Today's prize is donated, courtesy of author, Ciara Gold, whom I interviewed in November of 2010. She has graciously agreed to giveaway a copy (in PDF file format) of her e-book, The Keeper Of Moon Haven (released last year) to one lucky person who comments on today's blog post.

So let's get started, shall we?

FIRST:  As always, give me your first name (or a nickname)

SECOND:  You must include your email address (otherwise you'll be disqualified--and I really don't want to disqualify anyone).

THIRD:  For Fun:  Tell me...what's your favorite fairytale creature?

One entry per person. The contest closes today at 9:30 p.m. Central Time (7:30 p.m. PACIFIC and 10:30 p.m. EASTERN).

**Please make sure your email inboxes are open to receiving emails from my email address: bethany.averie@yahoo.com as this is how I'll alert the person they're the winner and get their mailing information so I can forward it to Ciara.**

I'll announce today's winner publicly tomorrow (Wednesday) just before I talk about how Wednesday's contest day will be run.

If you have any questions, please email me.

Enjoy today's Tantalizingly Tempting Tuesday contest :-)

Have A Tantalizing Tuesday!

As far as fairytale creatures go...I loved everything and everyone in Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Especially the beast...although he really was a man (talk about dark heros!)...so does that count? lol.

Tessy,

The Beast ALWAYS counts when it comes to talking about what you like of fairytales. Maybe I'm biased, but when I was younger I wrote 2 different retellings of "Beauty & The Beast" (both of which are lost to me)--one was in high school, the other in my early to mid 20's.

Thank you for your entry! I've got your name in the box for tonight's drawing :-)

I always liked Rumpelstilskin because the heroine was cagey and tricked the villin. At least that's the way my mother told it to me. She had a habit of censoring fairy tails to make them more child-friendly.

Christie,

It's definitely a good fairytale :-)

Susan,

I don't hear too many people saying they like "Rumplestilskin" but you're right about the heroine being smart!

Thank you for your entry! I've got your name in the box for tonight's drawing :-)

Get Thee A Nom De Plume!

Good Evening One & All, Shakespeare wrote in Romeo & Juliet, "What's in a name?...A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Disney talked about names in Aladdin in the lyrics, "Better get a nom de plume ." (the song, "One Jump"). So, for a writer, what does a nom de plume (or, pen name) say about the author? It could be a different spelling of the author's name, it could be a name that has a significance. They could keep their first name, but change the last, or change both. A pen name is also the name a writer will write under for his or her books. The name that his or her readers will recognize them. The name on the autographs and the one where people will say, "Oh yes, that's so and so, they wrote..." Some authors write under their own names. Others, for a variety of reasons, choose a pen name. What about you? Are you considering a pen name? What have you looked at when thinking of your nom de plume ? For myself, I&
