Contest Day: Terrific Treat Thursday

Happy Thursday All,

Congratulations to yesterday's winner, Debbie! Due to problems I didn't know existed, that I'm looking into, if you have trouble posting your entry in the comment section, please send me an email and let me know that's going on.

Anyway, Debbie, you will be receiving your copy of Murder By Magic from Will as soon as he can send you a copy. Hope you enjoy it and thank you! Thank you everyone for your comments yesterday!

Today's prize is delicious (but I don't mean in terms of something to eat). I mean, it's fun and it's donated by Christie Craig (under the name C.C. Hunter). For a little trivia: Some of you might remember the interview I did with Christie in June of 2010.  The prize has to do with her new YA novel, Born At Midnight coming out in March.

Here's a picture she gave me of this swag (prize):

Pretty awesome, huh?

Anyway here's how today will be run:

FIRST:  As all the other days, give me your first name (or nickname).

SECOND:  You must include your email address (or you're disqualified).

THIRD:  For Fun:  What's more romantic, the first kiss or the happily-ever-after?

One entry per person. The contest closes today at 9:30 p.m. Central Time (if I haven't closed the contest by 9:30, and you haven't entered, please, take the time to enter. The contest isn't officially closed until I put up the comment in the comment section about it being closed).

If you have any trouble posting a comment please email me.

Please make sure your emails are open to receiving emails from bethany.averie@yahoo.com that's the email I use to notify the winner.

I'll announce the winner publicly tomorrow before I announce tomorrow's prize (yes, as far as I know, unless something changes, there is a prize for Friday).

If you have any questions, please email me.

Have A Terrific Thursday!

I like the idea of happily ever after... a life time could be long and I would definitely want to be happy for that long.

Valerie,

Good point there!

Thank you for your entry. I've put your name in the box for tonight's drawing :-)

Pam
[you have my e-mail address!]
I think the first kiss is more romantic, but the happily-ever-after is more sustaining.

Have a fun day!

Pam,

I actually know more than one Pam (and more than one Pam has my blog information), so I hope you emailed me to let me know which Pam it is because without it I can't put your name in, but once I get that information I will enter you. Thanks for your post!

I agree happily-ever-after is more sustaining
:-)

I don't see how first kisses can be romantic unless you've dated someone a long time and it's been a long time in coming and the mood has to be just right! And the HEA seems to me like it changes often (and sometimes isn't HEA after all)...so I have to say special places in between the FK and the HEA are the most romantic!!

Tessy,

Hmmm...you make a good point!

Thank you for your entry. I put your name in the drawing box :-)

Hi Bethany, I just saw your contest through Christie Craig FB page. I don't know about her YA books but I'm a die hard fan of her contemporary romances (she wrote some of the best, ever !!). I love reading about first kisses but what I love best is the HEA, definitely the most romantic for me.
Thanks for the contest. I'll have to browse through your blog as I'm new to it. Looks really nice. Thanks !!

Emmanuelle,

Hey! Welcome to my blog. I love having newcomers come here and enjoy it, so I'm glad you like it. Thank you for your comment, too. There's another drawing tomorrow and I have author interview plans for this year, as well--I've got a few other ideas for this year on here, so don't be a stranger!

Thank you for your entry and I put your name in the drawing box :-)

P.S. I agree, Christie rocks :-)

Hi Valerie,

I'm with you. Happily Ever After is great. And when they come with those first, second and hundredth kiss, what's not to love.
Christie Craig said…
Pam,

I love writing those first kisses. It's always the spark of excitement. I remember my very first kiss. It came with the hiccups and seeing my granddad in his underwear for the first time. Not a happy memory! LOL.

Tess,

You know in my books, and in my life, one of the most romantic things is when my characters really laugh together for the first time. There is something so beautiful about two people that have moved away from that awkward stage and can share laughter. I love writing that moment when these two people arrive at that place.

Emmanuelle,

How are you doing? Good to see you here.

Okay,

I finally found out which Pam it was who was entering today's drawing. Thank you for your entry. I've got your name in the box for tonight's drawing :-)

I think HEA is by far the most romantic and sustaining. You have my email address...
Bethany said…
Okay,

I figured out who the Sarah is, so I can put her name into the drawing. :-)
Bethany said…
Sarah,

There's several who agree with you on here :-)

Thank you for your entry. I put your name in the box for the drawing :-)
Hi, Bethany! Wow, what a question. I suppose it depends on just how romantic the first kiss is....lol. Some of those first kisses are done in anger. But I think the first kiss, because it's an anticipation thing, too. The Happily-Ever-Afer is really nice to have, but it's a lot of work!

Anna,

That's completely true :-)
Bethany said…
Anna,

I got your email. Thank you for your entry. I put your name into the drawing box :-)

Okay,

The contest is officially CLOSED now!

Thank you everyone for your entries :-)

Okay I've got a winner :-)

I'll announce who it is in Friday's post.

Friday is another chance to win a different great prize...you'll have to check the post to find out what it is :-)

Get Thee A Nom De Plume!

Good Evening One & All, Shakespeare wrote in Romeo & Juliet, "What's in a name?...A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Disney talked about names in Aladdin in the lyrics, "Better get a nom de plume ." (the song, "One Jump"). So, for a writer, what does a nom de plume (or, pen name) say about the author? It could be a different spelling of the author's name, it could be a name that has a significance. They could keep their first name, but change the last, or change both. A pen name is also the name a writer will write under for his or her books. The name that his or her readers will recognize them. The name on the autographs and the one where people will say, "Oh yes, that's so and so, they wrote..." Some authors write under their own names. Others, for a variety of reasons, choose a pen name. What about you? Are you considering a pen name? What have you looked at when thinking of your nom de plume ? For myself, I&
