Looky Here!

Happy Thursday All,

I think the computer issues (well most of them anyway) are resolved, so I'm back up and running.

Tomorrow is author interview day. Guess who's the author? I normally do not reveal authors before the actual day, but due to the fact that this one had to be postponed, I'll be nice and say who it is...Kerrelyn Sparks! Yep, tomorrow I'm posting an interview I did with paranormal romance author, Kerrelyn Sparks. And yes, she plans to do a giveaway. Now how are going to run it since it's a Friday? Well, I'm gonna have to cut it off around 9:30 p.m. Central Time because otherwise I might not get to draw a name (my weekends are generally family time, so I don't get on here). I'll reveal the winner publicly on Monday. The winner I will notify immediately by email (to get mailing information to forward to Kerrelyn so she can send the prize out).  I'll unveil what the prize is tomorrow. (Hey, I got have some form of a surprise for you, it wouldn't be right if I told you everything!)

Okay...there's some new stuff up on the margins of this blog. For one thing, I've added to the list of movies I want to see. I forgot The King's Speech was coming out. Plus I found out about a new movie about a month or so ago (before the previews started coming out) called Red Riding Hood. There's a book attached to that one (look up Catherine Hardwicke on Amazon and Barnes & Noble).

Another thing I added was the play list. Now the play list is simply music I listened to while writing Surreal. I'm also updating the genre under about my writing. Originally I thought it was paranormal with fantasy elements, but I've been corrected on that. Surreal is actually fantasy romance with paranormal elements--but given that one of the main characters is a type of shape shifter, I hope I can be forgiven for my faux pas. That's the thing about writing...if you open yourself up to the knowledge, you will constantly learn something new--which is great because it helps you be a better writer and it helps you learn your way around the business. I should've updated these things awhile back, but I hadn't gotten around to it.

Yesterday I was listening to The Cure. Funny thing is, I've liked many of their songs, I just didn't always know they were the ones who wrote them. One of the songs by the Cure was actually a song I listened to while writing another one of my stories (not Surreal). I don't always listen to music while I write (in fact, it's rare) but every now again music helps put me in the right mood and mind set.

Let's see...March is a huge month for new releases, too. Here's what's coming out next month...

March 1st -- Laura Childs' new Tea Shop Mystery: Scones & Bones

March 29th -- C.C. Hunter's YA Paranormal Born At Midnight and Kerrelyn Sparks' Vampire Mine

Does anyone else know who other than those 3 authors has a new release in March? Feel free to post it in the comment section (or email me).

So, tell me what's going on with you? :-)

Have A Thrilling Thursday!

Get Thee A Nom De Plume!

Good Evening One & All, Shakespeare wrote in Romeo & Juliet, "What's in a name?...A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Disney talked about names in Aladdin in the lyrics, "Better get a nom de plume ." (the song, "One Jump"). So, for a writer, what does a nom de plume (or, pen name) say about the author? It could be a different spelling of the author's name, it could be a name that has a significance. They could keep their first name, but change the last, or change both. A pen name is also the name a writer will write under for his or her books. The name that his or her readers will recognize them. The name on the autographs and the one where people will say, "Oh yes, that's so and so, they wrote..." Some authors write under their own names. Others, for a variety of reasons, choose a pen name. What about you? Are you considering a pen name? What have you looked at when thinking of your nom de plume ? For myself, I...

Spotlight On Author: Loretta Wheeler

Happy Tuesday Everyone, There's a gem of an author I've had the privilege of coming across...I'm talking about my friend, Loretta Wheeler. She's a sweetheart and very talented author. I enjoyed her YA Paranormal novella, The Pan Man immensely. And, she also writes Romance. So without further ado, come into my parlor and meet Loretta Wheeler: Me:  In your YA novelette, The Pan Man , you mention Pan's looking for his long lost soul mate. What made you choose Pan out of all the Greek/Roman gods and goddesses? Loretta:  I chose the Greek god Pan, because of the connection with the music. I found later on in the story, (my stories take over and write themselves usually) it applied even more than I realized because of the band's name. I won't mention the name of the band in here, because it's part of the surprise ending. Me:  You're mostly known for your Romance stories. How would you describe your writing style? Hot, suspenseful, sensual, sw...

The FIRST one is TODAY!  Today's give away is a copy of Kerrelyn Sparks' Sexiest Vampire Alive . Here's how it's going to work and please read all instructions CAREFULLY. ONE entry PER person : If you choose to email in your entry: Email to this email ONLY .  Your email should state who your favorite vampire is. If you choose to enter by commenting on my blog: Leave your FIRST name, email address, and what vampire is your favorite. It can be ANY vampire--but like I said, it would be really cool if you mention a Kerrelyn Sparks' vampire. You don't know Kerrelyn Spa...
