Inner Workings

Happy Tuesday All,

How do you work as an author? Do you like to plan and plot or do you like to just see what comes? Or do you do a bit of both?

I trend towards a bit of both. Some things are planned (like the basic storyline or what a character looks like) other things just happen (like when I'm writing and I discover one idea doesn't work, but a different one does).

What about you?

Happy writing :-)

Have A Top-Notch Tuesday!

I do both...I always have a framework...but then the characters usually just do what they want. :)

Demitria,

Thank you for dropping by and giving your input. Sounds like you have a nice balance :-)
Good question, Bethany!
I'm usually not a plotter. My stories find their own way. I've just completed the second book to a new trilogy that will be out later this spring, but because I'm combining characters from the first two installments, who have not met one another, it will take some planning. For the first time ever, I sat down last night and outlined the first few chapters to see who would end up where. It doesn't go into great detail or anything, but I do have a general idea of what will happen, and in this case, I think it will be most helpful to keep things straight! Writing requires adaption sometimes and I'm willing to be flexible!
Cheers,
Robin

Robin,

Thanks for dropping by! And you're right about writing requiring adapting. Sometimes it's a little, sometimes it's a lot. Sounds like you got a good method going :-)
