Magic And Mythology

Happy Friday Everyone,

****GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED. A very special thank you to Josephine Angelini for supplying the prize!****

Yay! It's another giveaway day! This is a special treat, not just for you, but for me, too. This novel I have read twice and would read again and again, no problem. Today's giveaway novel is Josephine Angelini's Starcrossed:

Can Helen and Lucas break the pattern of bloodshed the Fates and the Furies have repeated throughout the centuries? Or will they suffer the same fate as the original Helen and Paris and other scions before them?

This is a story based off the Helen Of Troy/Trojan War mythology. I own this book and believe me, you don't want to miss out.

Here's how you can win this awesome novel (please read the following rules carefully):

One entry per person. I will close giveaway at 10:30 p.m. Central time.  **Edit 12/09/2011 10:23 a.m. Central Time:  Confirmed with Josephine, the contest is open Internationally, so USA and all countries welcome may enter, just follow the rules and get your entries in BEFORE 10:30 p.m. Central Time :-)

You may choose one of two ways to enter:

1.  If you want to enter by leaving a comment on this post:  please include a first name and email address. If you do not include an email address you will be disqualified (need a way to contact the winner).

2.  If you don't want to leave an email address in the comment section, you may send me an email to bethany.averie@yahoo.com (Those of you have other email addresses of mine, please only send giveaway entries to bethany.averie@yahoo.com ).

Have fun!

Have A Fabulous Friday!

I missed the last contest; didn't want to miss this one.
This HAS been a good Friday so far. My favorite show had it's new episode on this morning, and I caught the mouse that's been living in my bathroom for weeks. His new home is in the garage. My husband would have a fit if he knew, but I don't kill anything.
You have a great Friday too, Bethany. roni42@roadrunner.com

Get Thee A Nom De Plume!

Good Evening One & All, Shakespeare wrote in Romeo & Juliet, "What's in a name?...A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Disney talked about names in Aladdin in the lyrics, "Better get a nom de plume ." (the song, "One Jump"). So, for a writer, what does a nom de plume (or, pen name) say about the author? It could be a different spelling of the author's name, it could be a name that has a significance. They could keep their first name, but change the last, or change both. A pen name is also the name a writer will write under for his or her books. The name that his or her readers will recognize them. The name on the autographs and the one where people will say, "Oh yes, that's so and so, they wrote..." Some authors write under their own names. Others, for a variety of reasons, choose a pen name. What about you? Are you considering a pen name? What have you looked at when thinking of your nom de plume ? For myself, I...

Spotlight On Author: Loretta Wheeler

Happy Tuesday Everyone, There's a gem of an author I've had the privilege of coming across...I'm talking about my friend, Loretta Wheeler. She's a sweetheart and very talented author. I enjoyed her YA Paranormal novella, The Pan Man immensely. And, she also writes Romance. So without further ado, come into my parlor and meet Loretta Wheeler: Me:  In your YA novelette, The Pan Man , you mention Pan's looking for his long lost soul mate. What made you choose Pan out of all the Greek/Roman gods and goddesses? Loretta:  I chose the Greek god Pan, because of the connection with the music. I found later on in the story, (my stories take over and write themselves usually) it applied even more than I realized because of the band's name. I won't mention the name of the band in here, because it's part of the surprise ending. Me:  You're mostly known for your Romance stories. How would you describe your writing style? Hot, suspenseful, sensual, sw...
