Getting Rid Of The Echo

Happy Wednesday All,

Okay, I'm late posting this, and I apologize. But, I'm here, now.

There's a funny thing about ideas. Sometimes it's so hard to come up with something before hand. When you have to force an idea, it seems like it gets stubborn. You push, you pull, beg, plead, bargain...and nothing happens.

Then you sit down and suddenly ideas pop out of nowhere and it's all you can do to keep up.

That's the way it is with this blog a lot of the time. People ask me "How do you come up with ideas for your blog?" The truth is, sometimes I don't come up with anything until I start typing. Other times, an idea pops in and I write it down for whatever date I think it will fit.

I have a notebook that I started keeping this year. In it I write the day of the week and the date. Then I write down any blogging idea for that day. Some things I already know--for example, official book reviews. I know that later this month I'll be posting one, I know that next month sometime I have one (in fact, I'm working on finishing reading that book for April's official book review). Other times I have no idea until that day.

Blogging, like anything, is an exercise. The more you do it, the more you know what to expect. Sometimes it means it gets easier, sometimes it means it gets harder--especially when you start worrying about repeating yourself. However, like anything else, blogging doesn't get easier if you have a blog and you avoid it. Once you decide to blog, you owe your followers to post as often as you can--or at least as often as you say you will post.

I know lately I've been falling off the wagon on that. I am extremely sorry. Last week I was sick, and another time I had family in town. However, now I'm going to cut the excuses and work harder at providing a post for you Monday through Friday (I don't post on weekends, Holidays (like Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter), and some days that are Holy in my faith). I'm not promising I'll be perfect at it, but I will do my best to have less "empty" days.

So, this is me, making an effort...and hopefully I can breathe new life into this blog, again.

Have A Witty Wednesday!

Get Thee A Nom De Plume!

Good Evening One & All, Shakespeare wrote in Romeo & Juliet, "What's in a name?...A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Disney talked about names in Aladdin in the lyrics, "Better get a nom de plume ." (the song, "One Jump"). So, for a writer, what does a nom de plume (or, pen name) say about the author? It could be a different spelling of the author's name, it could be a name that has a significance. They could keep their first name, but change the last, or change both. A pen name is also the name a writer will write under for his or her books. The name that his or her readers will recognize them. The name on the autographs and the one where people will say, "Oh yes, that's so and so, they wrote..." Some authors write under their own names. Others, for a variety of reasons, choose a pen name. What about you? Are you considering a pen name? What have you looked at when thinking of your nom de plume ? For myself, I...

Spotlight On Author: Loretta Wheeler

Happy Tuesday Everyone, There's a gem of an author I've had the privilege of coming across...I'm talking about my friend, Loretta Wheeler. She's a sweetheart and very talented author. I enjoyed her YA Paranormal novella, The Pan Man immensely. And, she also writes Romance. So without further ado, come into my parlor and meet Loretta Wheeler: Me:  In your YA novelette, The Pan Man , you mention Pan's looking for his long lost soul mate. What made you choose Pan out of all the Greek/Roman gods and goddesses? Loretta:  I chose the Greek god Pan, because of the connection with the music. I found later on in the story, (my stories take over and write themselves usually) it applied even more than I realized because of the band's name. I won't mention the name of the band in here, because it's part of the surprise ending. Me:  You're mostly known for your Romance stories. How would you describe your writing style? Hot, suspenseful, sensual, sw...
