Checking In...

Happy Monday Everyone,

As we approach the end of November, I'm already enjoying Christmas specials on TV. This is my favorite time of year. I love Fall and Winter--I love sweaters, comfy blankets, and warm drinks.

Those of you who haven't heard, I'm doing a big giveaway in December! So far, I have at least 6 authors signed up. I've got thrillers, suspense, romance, and YA lined up. You don't want to miss this.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I was at my parents' house and had a nice time.

So what do you like about the winter season?

I live in Maine, so the winters are a bit harsh. What's nice about the cold weather though is that my allergies ease off a little. And, it gets dark early so I can put on my jammies, make a cup of tea, and get more reading time in. Right now it's dark before 5:00 pm.

Roni,

I've never been to Maine (but I've been to several states along the East Coast--love that area--so pretty).

It does get dark rather early...not a huge fan of that part, but I do like wearing warm pjs and hot tea/hot cocoa.

Enjoy your reading and your tea--excellent combination in my opinion.

Thank you for dropping by :-)

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving, Bethany. My cousin and her family came in from out-of-state and it went so well, we are hoping to make it a tradition.
My favorite thing about winter is the cooking...hearty stews, soups, roasts and BAKING! I have a wall oven that warms up most of the living area of our ranch-style house,so the heart-warming baked goods are also HEARTH-warming! Which also means I bake away in cooler weather and freeze a good deal of the goods because it also heats up the house too much in hot weather and I don't enjoy payig the power company to heat and cool my house at the same time. I hope your Thanksgiving went splendidly.

Tonette,

Thank you for dropping by! Sounds like everyone should be dropping in your house for yummy food! I love baked goods. Unfortunately, most of mine are from a mix LOL Although I have made some cakes and muffins from scratch before.

Hope you can make it by here for when I do my December blog giveaways :-)

Get Thee A Nom De Plume!

Good Evening One & All, Shakespeare wrote in Romeo & Juliet, "What's in a name?...A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Disney talked about names in Aladdin in the lyrics, "Better get a nom de plume ." (the song, "One Jump"). So, for a writer, what does a nom de plume (or, pen name) say about the author? It could be a different spelling of the author's name, it could be a name that has a significance. They could keep their first name, but change the last, or change both. A pen name is also the name a writer will write under for his or her books. The name that his or her readers will recognize them. The name on the autographs and the one where people will say, "Oh yes, that's so and so, they wrote..." Some authors write under their own names. Others, for a variety of reasons, choose a pen name. What about you? Are you considering a pen name? What have you looked at when thinking of your nom de plume ? For myself, I...

Spotlight On Author: Loretta Wheeler

Happy Tuesday Everyone, There's a gem of an author I've had the privilege of coming across...I'm talking about my friend, Loretta Wheeler. She's a sweetheart and very talented author. I enjoyed her YA Paranormal novella, The Pan Man immensely. And, she also writes Romance. So without further ado, come into my parlor and meet Loretta Wheeler: Me:  In your YA novelette, The Pan Man , you mention Pan's looking for his long lost soul mate. What made you choose Pan out of all the Greek/Roman gods and goddesses? Loretta:  I chose the Greek god Pan, because of the connection with the music. I found later on in the story, (my stories take over and write themselves usually) it applied even more than I realized because of the band's name. I won't mention the name of the band in here, because it's part of the surprise ending. Me:  You're mostly known for your Romance stories. How would you describe your writing style? Hot, suspenseful, sensual, sw...
