Git Yer Cowboy Hat & Laugh Out Loud With The New Christie Craig Novel

Happy Monday Everybody,

****CONTEST PORTION OF THIS POST IS NOW OFFICIALLY CLOSED!*******

Friday afternoon I finished reading Christie Craigā€™s new book, Donā€™t Mess With Texas, which is available on August 23, 2011.

This is laugh out loud humorous fun! A heroine who pukes on the hero, a no-nonsense Nana (loved her! Nana needs her own story, she's just that funny), a strong defend-and-protect type hero--mix it all together and you've got a novel jammed pack with Christieā€™s humor, romance, mystery, suspense and everything else she could think of including an English Bulldog sleeping in a coffin.

Ex-cop turned P.I. Dallas Oā€™Connor and his buddies got a bum deal when they were framed for a crime they didnā€™t do. Now out of jail and setting up their P.I. firm theyā€™re ready to kick some serious butt and make sure those who are falsely accused get a fair shake in this system.

Theyā€™re gonna make sure a 19 year old boy doesnā€™t get locked up for a murder he didnā€™t do and while theyā€™re at it make sure the people who framed them pay.

Well, he was, that is, until Artist Nikki Hunt pukes on him when he comes to investigate a crime scene with his brother, Tony (who is still a cop).

Right from the start Dallas is taken by Nikki--and itā€™s not just because of her vomiting skills (which are impressive) but thereā€™s something special about Nikki. She's bright, funny, independent and he's fascinated by her.

But he canā€™t--wonā€™t--get involved. Sheā€™s the prime suspect in Jack Leonā€™s murder. Jack is Nikkiā€™s ex-husband--emphasis on the ex. Jack had Nikki come meet him for dinnerā€¦and stuck her with the bill.

Two people heard Nikki say she was going to kill him, but what they donā€™t get is that Nikki didnā€™t mean literally--she was talking to herselfā€¦a habit sheā€™s never been able to break.

Can Dallas deny the fireworks between him and Nikki? Can Nikki overcome her fears of being left in the dust with a broken heart (long enough to see Dallas isn't like Jack)?

One thingā€™s for sure, the attractionā€™s undeniable, and the temperature isnā€™t the only thing thatā€™s hot in Texas!

And yes, I really enjoyed this book. It was funny, fun, and classic Christie Craig Laugh-Out-Loud-And-Enjoy novel.

Donā€™t Mess With Texas will be available from Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Katy Budget Booksā€¦

But wait!

Thatā€™s NOT all!

Christie Craig is doing a giveaway on this blog, as well!

Get Thee A Nom De Plume!

Good Evening One & All, Shakespeare wrote in Romeo & Juliet, "What's in a name?...A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Disney talked about names in Aladdin in the lyrics, "Better get a nom de plume ." (the song, "One Jump"). So, for a writer, what does a nom de plume (or, pen name) say about the author? It could be a different spelling of the author's name, it could be a name that has a significance. They could keep their first name, but change the last, or change both. A pen name is also the name a writer will write under for his or her books. The name that his or her readers will recognize them. The name on the autographs and the one where people will say, "Oh yes, that's so and so, they wrote..." Some authors write under their own names. Others, for a variety of reasons, choose a pen name. What about you? Are you considering a pen name? What have you looked at when thinking of your nom de plume ? For myself, I...

Spotlight On Author: Loretta Wheeler

Happy Tuesday Everyone, There's a gem of an author I've had the privilege of coming across...I'm talking about my friend, Loretta Wheeler. She's a sweetheart and very talented author. I enjoyed her YA Paranormal novella, The Pan Man immensely. And, she also writes Romance. So without further ado, come into my parlor and meet Loretta Wheeler: Me:  In your YA novelette, The Pan Man , you mention Pan's looking for his long lost soul mate. What made you choose Pan out of all the Greek/Roman gods and goddesses? Loretta:  I chose the Greek god Pan, because of the connection with the music. I found later on in the story, (my stories take over and write themselves usually) it applied even more than I realized because of the band's name. I won't mention the name of the band in here, because it's part of the surprise ending. Me:  You're mostly known for your Romance stories. How would you describe your writing style? Hot, suspenseful, sensual, sw...
