Great Jewelry Giveaway Thursday: Jade Eyes Following Me

Happy Thursday Folks,

The contest portion of this post is now closed, but please feel free to enjoy the rest of it.

Congratulations goes to C.C. for winning Wednesday's drawing! Tea will be sending you the "Diamond & Ruby" Hidden Treasures Necklace.

The week marches on and so does the Write By Bethany Great Jewelry Giveaway author and jewelry pairings.

Thursday (today) features one of my critique partners, Tess St. John. Tess has written a Romantic Suspense called Eyes Of Jade. I've read the first 3 chapters of this novel (as one of her critique partners) and I'm chomping at the bit to read the rest of it. Unforunately, Eyes Of Jade won't be available until later this summer. Edit at 11:16 a.m. Central Time (Eyes Of Jade blurb!):   Sick of acting, Hollywood film and TV star Eve Knight plans to start life over in Houston, Texas. But before she can announce her retirement, repeated attempts are made on her lifeā€”in ways mirroring deadly scenes from her action movies. FBI agent Jacob Dane swore off love after his engagement ended in tragedy. Heā€™s been assigned to Eveā€™s case because of the bizarre attempts on her life. Hiding her away from the world brings the two of them close. Very close. Agreeing to bait a trap for the would-be murderer, Eve puts on the performance of her life while Jake realizes if he fails to keep her safeā€”heā€™ll lose his heart. Again.

Tess St. John has a Historical Romance, Second Chances available. It's very well done (I've read it all the way through). Emma Easton married her husband to escape her the fate her father has in store for her--to be sold to the highest bidder as a wife. Harmon Easton offered Emma sanctuary and a caring home. However, old age catches up to Harmon, and Emma finds herself a young widow, with no real protection from her vengeful father. Drake, himself a young widower (after losing his wife in childbirth), was a good friend of Harmon and offers Emma help--however, he doesn't wish to marry again. As their friendship grows, so will a love they didn't expect. However, is that love meant to be? Do they really get a second chance? You can purchase Second Chances on Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble Nook, as well as on Smashwords.

Tess commissioned Kathy of Beadmore Designs to make a bracelet and necklace set. The Eyes Of Jade Bracelet & Earring Set is very striking...check it out:

I wanted to explain a little about Eyes of Jade...I wrote Jake Dane in as a secondary character in my first mystery (Don't Let It Show) and as soon as he stepped on the page I knew he had to have his own book! Kathy did such a super job of getting just the right color! I've seen a few men with eyes this color (a luminous light green) and it just fascinates me!

Good luck to everyone! And a huge thanks to Bethany and Kathy!

Wow! I couldn't take my eyes off that picture of the jade bracelet and earrings. They're as beautiful as the story seems to be. Gotta buy that book!

EYE do believe EYE've been as JADEd as poor Drake is about marriage, but then I just married crappy men - they never died on me. So, perhaps he is less JADEd than he is just agonEYEzed over the loss. I hope Emma can cheer him up :)

Get Thee A Nom De Plume!

Good Evening One & All, Shakespeare wrote in Romeo & Juliet, "What's in a name?...A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Disney talked about names in Aladdin in the lyrics, "Better get a nom de plume ." (the song, "One Jump"). So, for a writer, what does a nom de plume (or, pen name) say about the author? It could be a different spelling of the author's name, it could be a name that has a significance. They could keep their first name, but change the last, or change both. A pen name is also the name a writer will write under for his or her books. The name that his or her readers will recognize them. The name on the autographs and the one where people will say, "Oh yes, that's so and so, they wrote..." Some authors write under their own names. Others, for a variety of reasons, choose a pen name. What about you? Are you considering a pen name? What have you looked at when thinking of your nom de plume ? For myself, I...

Spotlight On Author: Loretta Wheeler

Happy Tuesday Everyone, There's a gem of an author I've had the privilege of coming across...I'm talking about my friend, Loretta Wheeler. She's a sweetheart and very talented author. I enjoyed her YA Paranormal novella, The Pan Man immensely. And, she also writes Romance. So without further ado, come into my parlor and meet Loretta Wheeler: Me:  In your YA novelette, The Pan Man , you mention Pan's looking for his long lost soul mate. What made you choose Pan out of all the Greek/Roman gods and goddesses? Loretta:  I chose the Greek god Pan, because of the connection with the music. I found later on in the story, (my stories take over and write themselves usually) it applied even more than I realized because of the band's name. I won't mention the name of the band in here, because it's part of the surprise ending. Me:  You're mostly known for your Romance stories. How would you describe your writing style? Hot, suspenseful, sensual, sw...
