Get Ready, Tess St. John Is Coming Soon!

Happy Monday All,

This week is a special week. My incredibly awesome Critique Partner, Tess St. John, is getting ready to release some of her stories. I'll be reviewing one of them on here this week and giving you information on how to get your hands on them.

Tess and I belong to the same chapter of RWA (which is how I met her). At the time I was joining the chapter, she was the treasurer. I was signing up for the annual Conference (which just so happens to take place around my birthday--so it's my birthday present from my husband the last couple of years and this year it's ON my birthday).

We started emailing back and forth. I met some of the other chapter members at a couple of meetings before the Conference happened, then I met Tess at the Conference.

Those first few emails have sparked a friendship plus Critique Partnership that I feel very blessed to have. She's encouraging, smart, and extremely helpful.

I am thrilled she's releasing her work. I've read several chapters of various novels of hers and readers, the woman's got talent!

So do not be a stranger as I'm going to be talking about Tess St. John over the course of this week--reviewing one of her novels, talking about her website and letting you know how to get your hands on her work.

Before I forget, how was every one's weekend?

Have A Merry Monday!

I'm totally excited, but I woke up this morning thinking about something I added to Second Chances just before I finished it, but am too afraid to look and see if I screwed up the whole scene by using a the wrong word...Can you spell OBSESSIVE! LOL

LOL - I first read your title as: Get ready, Tess! St. John is coming!

I thought...is Bethany becoming prophetic? Then I read it again...oops! LOL! Guess I need more coffee.

Congrats to Tess and so happy for you Bethany that you have been able to find an avenue that supports you and enables you to pursue your passion for writing!! :)

HUGS!!

Nice support, Ms. Tess! Like Misty said, I look forward to reading the entire book! Very happy for you. :)
From yet another online crit partner, let me say that I'm a bit over the moon that we are finally seeing Tess St. John's books for real! Whenever a chapter of her wip showed up for me to crit, I got my cup of tea, a few cookies, set everything aside and hunkered down for a good read, pinching myself every once in awhile as a reminder that I was critting to help, not to just enjoy a great story. Here's to a long and glorious career. Couldn't be happier for you Tess!
Oh, yeah. Forgot to mention your website...awesome!

Get Thee A Nom De Plume!

Good Evening One & All, Shakespeare wrote in Romeo & Juliet, "What's in a name?...A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Disney talked about names in Aladdin in the lyrics, "Better get a nom de plume ." (the song, "One Jump"). So, for a writer, what does a nom de plume (or, pen name) say about the author? It could be a different spelling of the author's name, it could be a name that has a significance. They could keep their first name, but change the last, or change both. A pen name is also the name a writer will write under for his or her books. The name that his or her readers will recognize them. The name on the autographs and the one where people will say, "Oh yes, that's so and so, they wrote..." Some authors write under their own names. Others, for a variety of reasons, choose a pen name. What about you? Are you considering a pen name? What have you looked at when thinking of your nom de plume ? For myself, I&
