A Bit Of This And That

Happy Thursday Everyone,

The edits to Surreal are coming along, although, now I almost feel like I'm performing surgery. I had to change some things and I ended up cutting several pages to accommodate the changes. I think I'm able to use most of the original work now (with whatever edits it needs to clean it up).

It amazes me how much time this takes and how hours just fly back as I'm working on it. If you need time to move along quickly, I recommend you get into serious editing with your manuscripts and watch time "fly".

Yesterday I finished up a Debbie Macomber book that contained 2 novellas. The book was called The Man You'll Marry and it was fun all about an "enchanted" wedding dress. I enjoyed it. She has some really good stories out. I especially recommend her Between Friends and The Perfect Christmas.

Another author I really enjoy is Regina Doman. Her work has suspense and romance. She's given permission to some film students to do a movie of her book, Shadow Of The Bear. I'm very curious to see how that will turn out since I love that book. So far, from what I've seen on the blog (I went to it through Regina's website) it looks really good. There's no set release date, yet. I definitely recommend the book, though. It's quite good.

This weekend I'm attending a Write-A-Thon at a fellow writer's house with several others from the chapter of the RWA that I'm a member of. I think it's going to be a lot of fun. We're having a pot luck and writing and brainstorming and door prizes. I'm hoping to get a chunk of editing done there. Plus, if something pops into my head maybe I could bounce ideas off people. The person who's hosting it does this from time to time, but this is the first time I'm attending it.

Anyway, what's going on with everyone else? Anybody else editing their manuscripts?

Have A Tubular Thursday! (Bet you never thought you'd see that word after the 1980's!)

I am about to start editing. Yikes! I am just stuck on my ending of the first draft. I get inspired to finish but stop with a mind block. I know what I want to do but sitting down and doing it has been difficult. Have fun at the Write-A-Thon.:)

Christine,

Yeah, writer's block can be annoying. Best wishes on finishing the manuscript and I'll have to let everyone know how the Write-A-Thon goes! :-)

Get Thee A Nom De Plume!

Good Evening One & All, Shakespeare wrote in Romeo & Juliet, "What's in a name?...A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Disney talked about names in Aladdin in the lyrics, "Better get a nom de plume ." (the song, "One Jump"). So, for a writer, what does a nom de plume (or, pen name) say about the author? It could be a different spelling of the author's name, it could be a name that has a significance. They could keep their first name, but change the last, or change both. A pen name is also the name a writer will write under for his or her books. The name that his or her readers will recognize them. The name on the autographs and the one where people will say, "Oh yes, that's so and so, they wrote..." Some authors write under their own names. Others, for a variety of reasons, choose a pen name. What about you? Are you considering a pen name? What have you looked at when thinking of your nom de plume ? For myself, I&
